So over the last 2 weeks I've been getting my stuff into storage for moving today. Even with all that lead time, Today was a 23hour day!!! I'm beat and chilling in the jacuzzi tub at the hotel.

My wife is excited to help my son move from Flushing, NY to Forest Hills, NY. First floor of one apt. to the fifth of another, the new one has an elevator.
She has kindly offered my services.....
The worst thing about moving is that you lose stuff you thought you had, but end up finding stuff you thought you'd lost.
thats the truth, found my microwave turntable spinner that disappeared. now i wonder whats going to be missing besides my sanity lol.

You're right; my bad.
Last time I moved, it was to the house next door. Rentals, The "New one" was 300.00 less rent and 200.00 less electric bill. Wierd to move with just a 2 wheel dolly. Had all the time needed, still wore my old ass out. Where are those kids when you need them?

Which part of town are you moving to?

richmond/eldridge area
Our last move was 318 steps--basically around the corner. Even so, we had to be out of the old house before we could close on the new one.
the closer the move the worse it is... I should know... I've moved all my life... 1st time I was 4 weeks old... being a military brat you get used to it :)... and i've moved more in the last 9 years then I did my 21 being a military brat... also had it as part of my job (moving people)
moving with the military was awesome... pick out what you are going to take with you... put it in a closet so they don't touch it.... and they pack everything else... step down to a personal cross country move and you pack up and get it into the truck... across town you pack most loose things... down the street or a block or so away it all seems to get tossed into the car or pickup... across the street it's all walked over with only the biggest heaviest things moved on the trailer/pick-up
NYG is right on about losing and finding stuff...
as much as I hate moving I sure seem to do a lot of it :-/
best move was when dad called me around 7pm at work to tell me that I needed to be up there by the end of the month (mom was dieing)... called again closer to 11 to say be there by the weekend... after staying awake all night with our 8m/o daughter he called back at 7am to tell me to get there ASAP... he'd pay for the plane tickets... I chose to drive... but had a month left on our lease and no clue how long I'd be in MI... over the next 24hrs we packed up our entire house into a storage shed taking only what we could fit in the neon... it was PACKED... I tried to take a nap before leaving for the drive but that was fruitless... then drove to MI... 3 days with no more then a 30 min "nap" at a gas station... also discovered that 2 no dozes... then another 2 with a redbull about an hr later is a BAD combo lol... but I got there... and got to see my mom for about 2 days before she was no longer coherent...
In reply to SkinnyG:
unfortunately not, but they did put ceramic tile and cabinets in the garage in anticipation of selling the place to me so that i would have a nice place to set my workbench on
Ah. Cool. If that's a dryer there too - that must mean you possibly have a 220V outlet for a welder (tee hee).
yep, and the breaker box is in the garage, so it's easy to run wiring for another 220 outlet on that side of the garage if i wanted to. opposite the door, theres a washer and dryer with a small stainless sink and lab faucet, so's i don't dirty up the kitchen with gojo and the like. there are cabinets over the washer/dryer for laundry stuff, and even more cabinets on the right side of the garage about half the length of the wall. basically the previous owners did just about everything that i would have done in there.
