Michelle and I have been sending her some good 'ol healing vibes since I heard about her condition at the Mitty. We'll be sure to heap on an extra dose.

We're all with ya on this one.

Uhg. Sorry.

It doesn't get better than Cleveland Clinic for heart surgery though. She's in good hands.

It's amazing what modern medical science is capable of. And as others have said, the Cleveland Clinic is a great place. A good friend and former college roommate of mine is a thoracic surgeon for them. (Dr. Eli Becker) I think he's working at their Rochester branch though.

Best wishes to your wife and you. She's in good hands!

all the (good) luck in the world to the two of you. I am certain you will both come out of this better. I will keep fingers crossed though

Best of luck to you both. My wife works in surgery as a Surgical Tech and I know from experience that they are consummate professionals in the OR and only the best get to advance to working with major operations like that. She's in damned good hands.

Thoughts & prayers are with you both

Since she's getting a tune up & valve job, maybe she could get a chip too.

You're in our thoughts.

About 7 years ago when I was staring down brain surgery for something I'd grown in my head (fortunately over a long period of time) I went about solving the problem like any other engineering challenge. I got all the information I could, networked to find anyone who had relevant experience, and used one of those connections to get access to the best surgeon.

Everything went fine. I'm fine.

2 things stand out that are relevant to your situation:

  • I felt really bad for everyone who was stuck waiting while I had a nice nap and got a nice scar and story to go with it.

  • A friend said something that's stuck with me ever since: "Luck equals skills, attitude and knowledge combined with favorable opportunity". Clearly on the basis of where you our, this portends a good and "lucky" outcome.

I like how they are giving you status reports as the procedure goes along.

Hang in there!

Steve, make sure you take care of yourself too while you're waiting. The doctors will take care of the Mrs.

...of course, if there's anything I can do for either of you..

( and I found out what you meant about driving in-and-around Boston. I was very happy to get back to boring, old Ohio!)

I should have known I'd hear more from you on GRM then texting!

She's got the best with her.

You've got less then the best with you, if you are counting on us!

I understand fear and stress, but I have never been through what you are going through. Take care of yourself- you are no help to her if you fall apart.

Don't hesitate to call if you need someone in the trenches with you.

We've got you both in our prayers. Love ya, man!

Last time at the Mayo Clinic they did not, 11 hours of no news, that was a bad day, so I really agree with this

Our prayers are with you. My wife had 5 1/2 hr open heart surgery two years ago to replace the aortic valve and about 2 inches of aorta (Marfan's Syndrome), she is fine now. Surgery went very well in Denver, they kept me in touch by cell phone from the OR. Hopefully all will go well for your wife, hang in there, we're all pulling for the both of you. Watch out for post-op drug interactions though - with the amount of stuff they give you, it's easy to get side effects, especially if they use Oxycodone in conjunction with other stuff.

Just spoke to the surgeon, all went well, she is still unconscious but the surgery is over and I can breathe again, now for the recovery stage.
