I find lots of music on Youtube that can't be downloaded on I-tunes etc. Its stuff people have made on their own etc and posted there. I would really like to get this onto a USB to play in the car. How do you do this?

Then need to strip the audio from video of guess?
In the past, I have used an audio out from my phone/ipod/computer to a CD recorder, then uploaded that to itunes/whatever music service I was using at the time. But that was years ago. Do they still make CD recorders?
Savethevideo.com will give you an audio only download, you may have to use the "alternate download" button for longer videos.
A few years back I found a program on Download.com that would rip the sounds from a youtube video and make an MP3. You would just pop the link into the bar and out would come the MP3. I forget what it was exactaly because I havent done an MP3 in years, but I'm sure there is still a freeware one around
You could also ask the folks making the video if they have the audio file available. That way maybe they can get credit/paid for it.
There are a few plug-ins on both Firefox & Chrome that allow you to download the whole video, or just the audio.
I use YTD Pro.
I not only grab music with it (thanks Duke!) but I also download long videos so I can watch them without streaming hiccups.
will any of these do a playlist of 30-40 songs ,
strip the audio and maybe put the name of the songs ?
All that above is true, but there is an official route, YouTube Premium. No ads, downloading of videos and music, and the YouTube music app. I've had it for a few months because YouTube ads are getting to be a bit much, but I just stopped my subscription because I'm now watching too much YouTube.

The music app is worth it alone, the no ads are a bonus. I don't watch regular tv or any streaming at all anymore. Just YouTube. I've watched 12 hrs of people cleaning boots and shoes before. I may not be normal.
