Yeah, as if I would get any help with not buying more model kits from you bunch of enablers. Here's the latest loot in addition to the 959 kit I got recently:

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
I'm probably going to start with the RX7 as it's the simplest kit - it looks like it's a reissue of an early 80s motorized kit, just without the motor but still with the battery compartment. Much less detail than the Tamiya kits...
Anybody interested in a built thread by someone who hasn't built a model kit in 25 years?
I have that Lotus 7 kit, I bought it in a hobby shop in Taiwan nearly 20 years ago.
I remember that hobby shop had all kinds of weird models, I wish I had bought more.
I picked up a 1966 Pro-Stock Chevy II kit because it's the same car as I'm working on for my wife. I got as far as opening the box...
I am slowly working on an Alpina E21.. wow have my model building skills gotten crappy

That RX-7 kit is awesome, I've built one. It's an old friction-motor toy kit that got re-purposed. Don't mess up like me and turn it into a street car, build the damn thing in it's correct livery. That's the only model I have that I regret how I built it, which means I have to buy another one day.
Oh and build thread or you're a pansy. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)

Funny. And I just posted in poopie's NSX thread how I built a Tamiya NSX kit back in the day. I still have it in the attic somewhere.
Well, the idea is that I'm buying kits of cars I want to own

I'm doing that now with matchbox cars. Cheaper and takes up less space. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/grin-18.png)

You too? I have to have 4 of each.

Matchbox doesn't make a 2.3T Lima swapped 55 TBird (including 88 TBird interior and suspension!), a 55 Chevy Gasser with a blown 327, a 632 Big-Block NASCAR clone 71 Monte Carlo, a Pro Street Lincoln Mk VII with a Shotgun Ford Hemi, or a street legal SA RX-7 with IMSA flairs!
(All models I've built)

I have a few extra too. Jada 510's too. I have all except the BRE Peter Brock 510. I hate to pay more than $1.07 for my Hot Wheels. Not pictured on the side is the Ken & Mary Skyline and the Hakosuka Skyline.
The wife doesn't understand this addiction.

I explain it to mine under the guise that my minion is to inherit a good portion of them as toys when he's old enough. IDK if he'll get the kenmeris and the hakosukas.
In reply to Pete240Z:
The BRE 510 really is worth it. Buy it from Brock himself and have him sign it if you want to justify it. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)

I haven't built a model since I was a kid. Recently I was thinking about building one to liven up my office a little...
So when are you going to get this build thread on the road?
As soon as I can get the basic paints sorted out - the local hobby store seems to have issues getting Tamiya paints at the moment.
Like Ian F I'm considering going with Matchbox SIZED models, pre-finished, because I know if I get any more kits they will join several I haven't even started yet.
I too was overseas and wish I had gotten more non-USA market kits. I have a Toyota 800 (or whatever it's called) and one or two other rare JDM-type kits, awaiting assembly. My original idea was to go with 1/24th scale kits, like I had when I was a kid...but they take up too much room if you have any decent collection.

NSX and RX7 in the OP look like interesting kits. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)

I suppose my problem is time. Matchbox cars are simple and quick. Spending time on models would take time away from the 6-10 real cars in my care...![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
That's why I try to limit myself to four cars

I have built that lotus kit in the past.
So much for my good intentions. This arrived in the mail yesterday:

It's a discontinued Fujimi kit that looks like it's nicely detailed. And yes, I'll eventually kick off a build thread for all the models once I get the 1/1 scale Miata done.

Ah... so we'll be waiting awhile then, eh? ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
Hopefully not - I'm just waiting for a replacement radiator hose and some brake bits. Next weekend I hope to throw out the old tired NA suspension and bolt in some lower mileage MSM shocks and springs, throw some braided brake hoses and new brake pads on and it should be done.
The fact that I have to use my CJ7 as a backup when the Miata is out of commission and the CJ7 gets 12-13mpg is quite motivational
