An Open Letter To Margie:
I appreciate the all the stuff you guys do for us. (I'm especially fond of the forum.) For that reason, I want to try to NOT be an annoyance to you or the other staff members. You recently made it clear (multiple times) that you are sick of the patio jokes. I understand that you accidentally started this long running GRM meme, and that it has become an irritant to you. I didn't mean any harm by propagating the meme, but I'm sorry to have been part of the problem.
For the 2014 year I will refrain from making references to patios, cement mixers or similar. I will not imply that you're a scary individual. I've already been trying to do so, but now I'm mentioning it publicly. My hope is that if I screw up, one of the ever vigilant members here will spot my mistake and chew me out for it.
I hope this makes your holiday a little nicer.
[PS - if anybody out there wants to make patio jokes, you can say I'm the big bad bogey man out to get you. Leave her out of it.]

Q. What do you call an Irishman who sits on the porch?
A. Paddy O'Furniture
damn it, now somehow I gotta come up with some sort of good-guy-joey meme. Keith is a semi public figure, coming up with a suitable pic from teh googels was hard enough...

I missed it too, but yet here is a thread about that very thing.

I'll skip it too, but I have one minor point:
ALL GIRLS ARE SCARY
Sheepishly raises hand as guilty. I promise to be a good boy from here out. I also promise to myself as an early new year’s resolution to stay clear of all political, gun and religious threads. I happened to bump into a fellow gear head on the way into the office this morning. He asked WTF had happened to Corner Carvers . com as he'd been over there for the first time in ages. We agreed that the constant barrage of politics and guns had driven people away. I’ve directed him here, but I don't want GRM to go the same way as CC.com, so I'm sticking to cars and jokes from here on out.
BTW WTF, I went to google to look for an image to go with ‘Sheepishly raises hand’ This is the first one, I fail to see any connection.

Not completely sure what is wrong with gun threads as them seem civil but the political threads are getting old.

Gun threads =/> political threads.

Agreed to a point. I should have said the threads where gun control comes up, which are usually political in nature. Not the threads that come up about 'What gun to buy' Or 'Look at my new Glock-olt bang stick' those are fine. But the thread the other day that started about an attempted home invasion was quickly going down the pro/anti gun rat hole.
Oh, jeez. I can be annoyed without deciding to nuke the forum, you know. And it's an internet forum... it's gonna be annoying sometimes. I get that.
Patio all you want. Really. I'll just roll my eyes and mutter to myself that you guys are a bunch of berkeleytards.
But know also that I tell everyone what a great group of people we have on here, and how I depend on this forum for all kinds of things it logically shouldn't be able to provide: Real knowledge, wisdom, humor, spirit of friendship and other things a computer really isn't supposed to offer. So thanks for that. I think we all understand that, so yeah, I'm already hardened.
Perhaps you guys need to htfu to the queen's posts. Really.
If you'd like to combine that hardening with never posting your (really, really stupid and needlessly argumentative) political E36 M3 ever again, fabulous. There ARE those among you who have become "that guy" at the party, and I'll tell you what nobody else will: We don't even care if you're right, you're just a pain in the ass. (Adrian, this does not, interestingly, refer to you--but I am forever grateful to you for your CC observation.)
Now really, don't you people have shopping or something to do?
Margie
Heh heh, you said "hardened." ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

Heh, heh, I won't type what I'm thinking, heh...

Nope, no hole in the box.
[and fwiw, I'm sticking to my "no patio references" policy]
<<<< Scratching head. I think I seriously missed some goings on here.
For what it's worth, I've been daydreaming about a new patio myself. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
I'm daydreaming about a lot of things but a new patio ain't one of them.
It's rough being a 'that guy', too. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
No, I just mean... I am willing to take on the patio references, if the Queen feels singled out.
And I ain't talking no flat, one-dimensional patio.

I want a patio too. I have this day dream that I can fit a 20x20 shop with a 20x16 covered parking pad, a 8x12 shed, a patio and a nice little pump track into my little back yard... oh yeah... and a small veggie garden would be nice too.
I generally like my small house... and I really like it's paid for... but I do often with the lot was maybe 8' larger in all directions...

ROTFLMAO
I propose that HTFU (pronounced HAT-fu) become an official GRM acronym.
Usage: He is a good mechanic, but his hat-fu needs some work. He gets all moody when somebody criticizes him.
