I have been kind of the same way in the past myself. I have a Glock 17 and have shot the Springfield XD series and a number of other poly guns. Most of them felt unblanced and and cheap with triggers that did not impress me.

The Sig Pro actually has quite a nice trigger and is extremely accurate. As inexpensive as the pistol is you would never know it. There is virtually know rattle due to loose fit between frame and slide that many poly guns seem to suffer from. It feels good in my hand and you can swap the backstrap like many of the newer poly guns (SIG has been doing this for a long time). Mags are spendy just like any other SIG mag running $40 each. When it came down to it I was down to the SIG and the FNX. The SIG won out when it came down to price and availability of mags. In all honesty I more than likely will pick up a FNX at some point.

I am hoping to get up to the range before the snow flies and if I do I will take a pic of some of my targets from when I shoot the 2022.

Sadly I havn't gotten a chance to try one out yet. Of the people I shoot with I am normally the only one willing to pop for a SIG.

Ok, on the other end of the spectrum, have you shot a Taurus 709 Slim?

One of the local gun shops has a gun range where you can rent guns. You could check around and see if any local to you do that and have that SIG.

I have, they're not too bad.....like the Lcp and keltecs, I couldn't see them shooting thousands of rounds without issues though.

I just don't trust the barrel that looks like someone glued together 3-4 sheets of paper and painted them black....its probably strong enough, but thats why I have steered clear of those 3. Just preference.

Pocket Hammerless in .32acp I presume? I've got a 1903/08 pocket hammerless in .380acp, fantastic shooting weapons.

I have one in .32acp that has been in my family for a long time. Around here the ammo is not as cheap as 9mm but I try and get it out a couple of times a year.

They're few and far between at gun shows, thats for sure. I'd love to find another one thats been refinished(thereby worth less) so I can use it has an EDC.

There are few for sale at a local shop. They're not refinished, though.

I am trying to track down where mine came from. Its parkerized and has some interesting prof stamps on it.

It really is fun to shoot and is so thin I think it would make a nice CC gun.

Size is nice, but the weight kinda kills it. As a random aside, have you guys ever noticed when cleaning the 1903/08 that they have opposite twist rifling from what most firearms have?

I never thought about needing a gun despite working in some real E36 M3 holes. I carry too much stuff anyway. On me I have a small Gerber pocket knife, Gerber multi tool, mini maglight, magic marker, Motrin, Immodium, pens, phone and a tool I made from a 9/16 wrench, 5/16 allen key and a 1/4 square rod to tighten mirrors and relock bus compartments, and my key ring with a Lego man flashlight, purell and keys for several bathrooms and breakrooms . For work I also bring a backpack with work papers, TP, glowsticks, assorted tools, an am radio, extra socks, underware and shirt, hat, gloves, orange vest, big Maglite, a bag of quarters for pay phones, clorox wipes, earplugs, batteries, duct tape, zip ties. lighter, deoderant, toothbrush, small first aid kit and a book. I also share a couple lockers with some friends in a couple stations with cans of food, water, more duct tape, zip ties tp ect.

So what is the consensus for carrying in places that have policies stating otherwise, such as the workplace? Leave it in the car? At home?

First and foremost, know the law and comply with it. Many places with signage may not be in compliance with the legal requirements. In the state where I live there are prescribed sizes for the lettering and every publicly accessible exterior entrance must be marked. A surprising number of the local retail establishments don't meet those requirements so if you carry you technically are not in violation of the law, but I believe you can be legally "banned" from returning to that particular location/establishment if they ask the cops to write it up. State and federal gov't offices and places that serve alcohol are not required to have signage and it is illegal to carry there as a patron (may vary for employees but I don't remember the specifics).

As far as place of employment, even if they don't meet the legal requirements for signage/notification I would comply with their wishes if I want to keep my job. Some states have passed laws so employers can't prohibit guns in employee vehicles parked in the employers lot. It is easy to terminate employees in the private sector so compliance depends on how much you want to be "right" vs. employed there.

Kinda depends on the state and place. In Oregon the only real official off limits places are stata and fed building, indian reservations without permission from the tribal judge and casino but they are on tribal land anyway. It isperfectly legal to carry on school grounds or even a bar here (you just can't drink). Private companies can post no firearms signs however carrying in said locations is not illegal. If they seeb you carrying and ask you to leava and you do not you are then tresspassing and cops can be called. Other states have different rules so make sure you know them. Some states if they have a no firearms sign up and they catch you carrying they can have you arrested so know your laws.

If you work where they prohibit carry you must decide if it would be worth losing your job or be arrested if that is the laws for your area. Leaving your gun at home does you no good if god forbid you need your weapon. If you leave it in the car secure it well as some states also have very strict laws about unsecured weapons and what happens if they get used in a crime. Many people actually have lock boxes welded or bolted into their cars (normally in the trunk) for such an occasion. Others hide their gun, some will cable lock it to something and then there are those that just toss it in the glove box.

This coming year I am hoping to get box system built for my truck that can secure both handguns and long guns mostly for use when I am going to range and the like. Trying to decide on if I want one large flat that lays in the bottom or two side boxes over the wheel wells. Steel box contruction, covered in rhino coat to match the bed, secured locking doors and slide out trays.

In reply to T.J.:

There are still some left. After 9/11 I was at work for 4 days with no way to contact anyone as phone service was knocked out in several areas. I went and bought the wife and I cell phones. Since then I've been stuck at work several times when cell service knocked out. This last time there was no cell service for over two weeks in some spots but many pay phones still worked. This way as long as one system works I can still call home, our office ect.
