It's something called the 2x4 challenge. What can you build with two standard 8ft 2x4s?
Thanks! In design school we had plywood furniture challenge where all we got was one 4x8 sheet and hand tools. I haven't thought about it in years, and I bet there's videos along those lines too.

Do you mean how long are the 2x4s? 8 ft.
I think the other stuff should be about 20% or less of the final product, but that is only a guideline.

Tools and time to build are basically limited only by the builder.
Is glue allowed? How about hardware? If those are allowed I've made some rolling pin nunchucks as a gift

This challenge format rings a bell...
I've seen some of those, some people can make some really nice looking final products out of the stuff. Very impressive. I have trouble finding a 2x4 that doesn't look like it went through a dying wood chipper at my local menards...
