Hey Wally, my wife and three lady friends are headed down tomorrow on a bus. Where ya gonna be? Please kidnap one, you decide.

Wally, there's been a BUNCH of times I have wanted to tell some jerk off. It usually can't happen (if I want to stay employed) but every so often someone will do something stupid like that, then it turns out they screwed themselves up. That is pretty satisfying.
Many's the time I have had people come in with a car, telling me what to fix. I just say 'sure you could be right but if we install X and the problem's still there, we can't return it for credit'. That usually makes them stutter and then finally agree we should check it out.

I was shocked as hell when I got this guy and said Burner control is toast. gimme your model number. he starts clicking away and then says ok just had the items pulled for shipping you should have it by Wed this was Monday. He basically sent me everything that could go wrong. burner control new propane orifice gas valve new burner new magnesium rod for the center and then this odd looking filter contraption for the bottom of the tank. total cost to me 0.00 and I got it on Tuesday. Same guy calls Tuesday after the parts were delivered and asked if I wanted a tech to come out and install all of it. I passed on that did it myself and 3 days later got an Identical box from UPS with all the same parts. with a note that said you only have 6 months left on the warranty this should get you through.
Please please please tell us what brand of hot water heater this is, so we can all purchase this brand when we need replacement water heaters!
I got hauled up to HR once on an Age Discrimination charge..
. Plaintiff A is saying I give the younger guys all the easy work.
Plaintiff A is 68.. Plaintiff B is 55.
I told the HR rep both were about double my age and therefore I saw them as the same..
suck it shop steward.

I did that once back in University. This guy is in a Mac's Milk in Toronto and he is jawing away at the clerk. I go there all the time and the clerk is really nice. I am drunk and as I walk by and hear what is going on I tell the guy to fudge off and leave the guy alone.
Mr. Big Mouth follows me to the back of the store and when I turn around he is looking at the middle of my chest (I am 6'4" and about 295 at the time.). He opens his mouth and his two buddies that are with him pick him up under his arms and carry him out and I hear them saying, "Are you nuts - look at the size of that guy."
Clerk thanked me repeatedly when i took my purchases up and he gave me a pretty good deal on my munchies (long before UPC readers). This was about 20 years ago, I am not sure I would do that again in Toronto today, but it was fun at the time.
For the threadjack about washer/dryer combos.
I got mine (which was lost in the divorce) from www.compactappliance.com. If you ask a good local appliance store, they can get them for you as well.
You'll pay lots for one with large capacity. Even the small ones aren't cheap...but if you look at it versus the cost of a comparable quality set of washer and dryer, it's not too bad.
The smaller ones can fit where a standard dishwasher can (like, under the kitchen counter) which is what I plan for my current renovation project house.
They DO leave wrinkles. I'm not exactly sure of the reason but I think it's a combination of ludicrous spin speeds and other factors. I don't iron socks or sheets or such, but I did have to get reaquainted with an iron...to my chagrin.
Many of the units are "ventless" meaning you don't have to have a vent to the outside, and many are also 120V AC. The upshot of all this is that they can be used in places that aren't "set up" for laundry. They even sell portable kits (casters and quick connect hose sets) so you can roll them over to the sink and hook them up (much like a "portable" dishwasher).
For the record...the first I ever heard or saw of these in the states was the high-end RV crowd.
Being 120V means long cycle times (like, 2 hours to dry...almost 3 hours for wash and dry). However, if you can hang your clothes to dry, they typically dry almost as fast because the wash cycle spins the bejezus out of the load so the dryer has less to do.
I never liked to dry in the house in the summer anyway...a dryer will really heat up a small house in a hurry.
One side benefit to these is that you don't have to wash things twice when you forget them in the washer for 2 days (don't even pretend that it doesn't happen to you regularly).
Another thing to note is that with these spin speeds...you want a good solid floor under it (concrete is best).
