I read the title wrong.  Thought you were wanting a C4...Carrera 4...

I'm with the C5 camp on this one though, especially if you can swing a C5 Z06.

I used to thing the C5 was thenlow point styling-wise. Then the C7 came out. Those are two cars that I cannot see myself owning.
the way the front and rear bumpers are misaligned makes me twitch.

Do it, but get a nice one.  Bad is bad, and unfortunately, the "reasonable price" window has closed.  With this in mind, the chassis is great; the LT1 was extremely underrated (but the opti-spark sucked).  There's a reason or two for the zillions of records that were set in both autox and road course with these cars (for decades); they work great with square wheel setups.  Electronics, however, were kind of on the watch this and hold my beer level . . .

I agree, if you want one, get it.

C4s are cheap, and, well, they are Corvettes. When the C4 was introduced, it was lauded as a supercar that took the Corvette brand to a whole new level, just like C8s today. Even if you don't keep it long, you will have Corvette memories.  Drive it to the Corvette Museum for their annual C4 reunion. You will never lose much money on it, as long as you keep it up.

I had an '86 that I only kept for a year or so, but it was fun to own and drive.

You are not wrong.  IMO C5 looks best as a death kart.

You said it better than I could have; cut the body off a C5 and it looks a lot better.
