I have a natural gas fireplace (was converted by the fireplace people from LP} and is controlled by a switch on the wall. The fireplace now doesnt respond to the switch and is on all the time. There is a standing pilot light, but now its the full fire conintuously. I turned the knobs on the control valve to get it back to just a pilot light but ultimately turned the gas isolation valve off for now.

I cant see the control valve numbers as I think its on the bottom. Looks to be a millivolt style.

Should I just replace the valve with a similar valve?

The switch on the wall seems good. The continuity seems good and I get 3.0 ish millivolts when its open.

Follow the gas line upstream to the source, should be a manual shut off prior to electric one.

Shut it down, remove the ones in the photo and go shopping.  Best to know where  it is anyway in case of emergency.
