I'm glad those people (power line workers and broadcast tower repairman) have their jobs, so that I can post drivel all over the internet.

E36 M3ty welds!
Assuming I would have made it to the top, upon looking down I would have pulled the total body clamp on that star thingy then after a while, a few days maybe, I would have cramped up and fallen back to earth, E36 M3ting myself the entire way.
berkeley every second of that E36 M3!!!
wow... didn;t realise that so many people can't stand heights.
Now I know why there are so few people in Atlantic City who will do my stage job.. the Climb and Focus
Stand in front of an NHL quality slap shot, sure. Race a car inches away from rocks, trees and drops, sure. Stand on top of step ladder, no freakin' way.
I bungee jumped when I was in college, nearly pooped myself, and that wasn't even 200ft. Granted it was at a state fair, and the whole thing was assembled and maintained my carnies, sooooooo I think the fear was warranted.
In my younger days I was the "tower monkey" for the local Amateur Radio community. Also did lamp replacement for a couple radio stations.
Highest I went was 500 ft but the first 200 was climbing stairs and the rest of the I was safely belted to the tower. None of that free climbing E36 M3.
I still have my climbing harness but haven't used it in 30 years and really don't want to any more.

You're right, did you see the quality of those welds.... look like poo poo.

Take a look at his outfit. Jeans, simple shoes, coat, gloves. Nothing fancy. Gloves make me nervous, they seem slippery to me.
he needs the gloves.. looks cold up there.
My usual climbing outfit consists of cargo pants, a polo shirt, hiking boots, mechanics gloves, and a harness
Climbing in gloves is super sucky. I've never found a pair of gloves that were confidence inspiring, but the alternative is feeling like your fingers getting stabbed with tiny needles. Props to that guy

It is mind blowing to me that OSHA allows free climbing at those heights. One split second of inattention or a single slip and he's buzzard food. Damn that was even scarier than the first video and he wasn't sneaking around, he was doing his job!
Wind Turbines. Apparently not just dangerous because of the heights, but also because they have been known to burn.
had a "moment" today.. and I was not even climbing. I was using a 26 foot high manlift.. had it at full extension and was manuevering around some truss.. and ran over a large tape ball somebody had left on the ground where I could not see it. The entire platform shook side to side more than twice it's width (three feet) and the tip over alarm went off (which shuts everything down but the ability to go down.
Kinda shook me up a bit
