I don't have any good suggestions for the model, at least not better ones than have already been made, but I think I have a suggestion on what kind of vehicle to look for.
I'm pretty sure most of what we're looking at here is the remains of a foglight. That pointy-teardrop shaped lens only makes sense as a foglight lens - when last did you see a headlight lens with fresnelling features, or that can be separately clipped out of its housing (an attachment type that would let moisture in easily)? It's probably not even part of a pointy-elliptical headlight like a Cavalier's, first because of the shape (the short side of it is so curved that it wouldn't make sense for a seam to be there) and again because it clips in. Also look at the size of it. Pretty unusual for a headlight. It would also be strange as a taillight - clear, fresnelled and attached with clips? Strange.
Foglights often have a lens that just covers a hole in the bumper, behind which a separate enclosed light fixture is sitting - like the thing on the top-left.
So stop looking for cars with pointy-teardrop headlights and start looking for cars with pointy-teardrop foglights.
but if the pointy teardrop thing is a foglight, then what the hell is the round light? That certainly looks like a foglight assembly. Or am I just seeing it wrong and its just a projector housing...which conceivably could have been knocked out of the headlight in a wreck.
pointy teardrop my guess is a corner light/turn signal, etc.?
I have no suggestions as to what kind of vehicle it could be though.
Quick question, can you determine what bulb size is in the projector or light?
You guys asking for an item for scale, that looks like your standard placemat at your dinner table all the items are sitting on.

I see the tear drop bit as the fog light cover, and the round bit as the actual fog light itself.

The big sheet of flat plastic is a dead give-away of none of the vehicles mentioned already. There are a handful of cars that have a sheet of plastic that covers turn indicators or fog lights. Let's start there.
the round light could also be subura outback also, I know mine has round lights in the lower bumper.
I'm not so sure that big sheet of plastic came from the crash, or even came from a car at all. I don't think I've ever seen an expanse of flat, clear plastic that size on a mass-produced car. It looks like it's about 6x8" - and it's just a piece!

Tell your friend to look harder at the teardrop shaped piece.
That looks basically complete, and I'd be shocked if it didn't have a part number on it. Very small, probably near the edge.

Here is literally the only other photo I've been able to coax out of her. She's just in the neighborhood, not like my next door neighbor, or I'd just go over there myself.
The First Gen Mercedes ML springs to mind. The integrated fog lights are not a match, but some had optional AMG front end and later gens had integrated round lights.

My Googlefu must be broken. It says the Osram 64341 is an Airfield Lighting application.
I know. That's not very helpful...
Found it. You're looking at the driver's side low beam and turn signal lens of a Second generation (UN Chassis) Kia Rondo 07-13.
Right Pinchvalve?

I'm with Gameboy. Looks like a foglight and foglight cover/lens. Also the silver piece at the lower right could be part of the surround around the light that would have been behind the lens/cover.

See above. H11B is almost exclusively a late-oughties Kia & Hyundai low beam bulb.

That fits perfectly, especially since she couldn't tell if it was a minivan or SUV. Looking at the thing I still can't tell...

I'm not sold. The "hatch" or whatever is a lot more pronounced in that pic, and it would have to be removable. Can't tell from that pic if that lens comes off the back.
well, I was partially right. The Gray plastic was a tip off that it was korean. I was also certain that the triangular piece was an internal turn signal lens, and that it was early to mid 2000s. I was wrong about the car having an external side marker.
The United States is not exactly crawling with Kia Rondos (I have seen 3 in the past year) so it should not be hard to track down

You guys rock! Thank you so much!
Keep us posted as best you can...
A GRM whodunnit solved.
I'm not opening another thread today. It doesn't get any better than this
Win for the forum. Nice work red stapler. I wonder what the cops will say when shown this.
Nice work RED!
This had to be a pretty big hit to dislodge the high beam completely from the housing. My guess is that the Rondo has significant damage.
Considering that the car that was hit was a total I bet the Kia did not drive far. Stolen? OUI and they ran? Is there any color transfer on to the car that was hit? With that I bet the police could narrow it down quite a bit.
