Sorry, but Rondo drivers are just the nicest people you will ever meet, and the Kia Rondo is INDESTRUCTIBLE, parts simply do not break off.  (That's why they are often used for military transport and fire/rescue vehicles)  The security system on a Rondo is also flawless, no one could ever steal one.  BUT, the evidence seems pretty clear.  Apparently, someone kidnapped a Rondo driver and forced the keys out of their hands at gunpoint (the only way to get a Rondo owner's keys) and took the car.

But yeah, if you want photos of anything from the headlight assembly, I can provide for corroboration or to use on a CL ad to see if you can trap the culprit!

Found it.  You're looking at the driver's side low beam and turn signal lens of a Second generation (UN Chassis) Kia Rondo 07-13.

Right Pinchvalve?

Huh, an internal indicator lens cover...good catch, that thing is well-hidden!

Is there any color transfer on to the car that was hit?  With that I bet the police could narrow it down quite a bit.

That's what I was thinking.  They should know the color of the Rondo, as well as (obviously) the color of the paint transfer onto the Rondo.  If the police care enough to actually pursue this, they should have a pretty good chance of catching the culprits.

I'm marking this one solved. Keep us updated on the pursuit of the perps. We've got too many meddling kids involved for them to get away with this! laugh

If they're anything like the cops here they don't.

As far as they're concerned it's an issue between you and your insurance company.

Nicely done. I actually looked at photos of the Kia Rondo a couple days ago while reading this thread, but clearly did not look closely enough at all the headlight details! Was too busy looking for some sort of triangular shaped completely separate light cover like a foglight or something.

I guess I dont have what it takes to be a detective. I wont quit my day job just yet, haha.

See, now if the hit & run garbage-person was smart, he or she wouldn't have left all the incriminatingly damaged bits sitting out in public for all to see. Just replacing the headlight and removing the pretzeled quarter panel could've gone a long way...would've made the car street-legal at night again too.

Also, I wonder if the big flat piece of plastic found was a shard of the headlight lens? If so, it looks like the lens is stressed into the correct shape when installed, and when it broke loose it sprung back to being flat again.

Yup, that's the big question. My neighbor across the street drunkenly destroyed my mailbox (and the front of her car) one night. I called the cops, showed them the destroyed mailbox and scattered car parts, then walked them over to the thrashed car which was minus a chunk of front end but somehow had streaks of paint on it the color of my mailbox pole. We played puzzle time with the parts that were littered around my front yard and they fit the damaged car. She refused to come out, so they impounded her car on the spot for hit & run and fleeing an accident. Cost her a couple hundred dollars to get the car out of impound. She never apologized or paid to repair the mailbox, but karma was served.

I had a car totaled years ago and I found the culprit parked across the apartment complex i lived in at the time. Handed the cops a box of parts, showed them how they fit up with the damaged car, and they said it didn't prove anything. Refused to run the tag or help me get the insurance info of the car owner.

So it all depends on if the local PD gives a damn.
