I drove past the dealership a couple of days ago, and today I followed one home. (puking smiley) Did Chris Bangle get hired at Acura?

Do you mean the Acura ZDX?
Its the Acura version of the Accord Cross-tour, and completely fugly, though the Honda version is slightly better looking IMO neither is very appealing. Probably a good car though.
I was at an Acura stealership test driving a miata. While they were copying my license and getting keys and plates, I asked an available salesmen "Is this the Acura version of the Honda Crosstour?" He told me: "no, this is completely different. Different frame, different motor, better interior, its a much better car". Right. shiny happy person.
I sat in it. If you are going to sit in the back seat, you must have the smallest torso ever. No headroom whatsoever.
This entire type of car baffles me, no matter which of the bandwagon-jumping, niche-market-creating manufacturers happens to be making it.

Unfortunately, what you have pictured above is not sold in the US. Instead, we get the Crosstour.

Fortunately, Honda has said that the Euro Accord Tourer may come state side as an Acura product.

As an Acura, that likey means that you will have to take the wagon with all the lux add-ons and all the price add-ons.
I wish I could get a 4cyl, manual trans wagon to replace my Volvo 850.
I wish that Ford offered the Fusion as a wagon and 4cyl with manual.
The Euro Accord wagon version of the previous generation (same as the older TSX) is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and functional to boot. These giant 4-door-coupe-things like the X6, the Honda/Acura twins, etc. are just awful. I find them doubly ridiculous since there were numerous great 5-doors that either tanked or never even made it over here, because "Americans won't buy them".
So what are these M6/ZDX/Crosstour things? Just what nobody always wanted and the answer to a question nobody ever asked.
Correct. We had our little "meeting" (read propoganda session) complete with video and a free lunch last week. we are getting the TSX Wagon (euro accord), we are getting a smaller car and a new flagship. No V8, no RWD and hybrids coming.
Basically... nothing anyone wants.
Actually, its the new TL that has me gagging. The new nose treatment for all the Acuras is ........a bit......homeley, but the Banglebutt on this thing is baaaad.

The new TL looks like a damn spaceship.
I was making fun of it to a couple buddies of mine, called it the Acura Enterprise, and one of them got butthurt. Apparently he bought one. Who knew?
Yeah, they've got a real Decepticons aesthetic going on. Though it looks like that may be getting toned down in the upcoming models.
For the record I love the Accord Euro touring/sportwagon, though I like the previous gen better than the newer one.
I think the new Acuras would all look a ton better with less chrome. Give me some body colored parts, or heck, just hand me a can of Dupli-Color Trim Black paint.
^ We've been sending out the grilles and rear trim pieces to get body color matched. They made the previous buck toothed MDX look better.... almost palatable.
I like the 04-08 TSX. Nice lines, smaller car, just a nicer feel. The new one is a TL in size, has the ugly face even it's mother couldn't love and with the V6 get's atrocious economy. I just don't understand the direction they are going with the styling.

No Bob, no.
It's a Honda. Not allowed.

Maybe, just maybe, it will remind people how good wagons (and five door hatches) are, and the greater public will start asking for something similar, but in a smaller size.

"...I wish that Ford offered a wagon version of the Fusion, and with a 4 cylinder/manual transmission combo".
If you want a small Ford wagon, with a 4 cylinder AND a manual transmission....get an Escape XLS (while you still can) as they are available with a manual. Mazda's Tribute also comes the same way in "i" trim....tho much harder to find.
While I don't think Chris Bangle has gone to work for BMW, it really looks like Honda/Acura is mimicing BMW with all the "niche busting" models that the blue and white roundel folks as pitching into the market. Example? The new 5 series is very similar to the Honda CrossTour. Tho Honda beat the BMW guys as the CR-V will be into it's 4th gen by the time the expected X1 appears.
The 4cyl manual fusion could also be looked at as a mazda6 wagon or hatch. I think they were available with the 2.3L.
and here I thought cars could not look worse than the last generation 5er.... then came the X6... then came all the followers....
whatever happened to simple boxes?
