New/old job. I’m back in the saddle

Last week was pretty rough. 

As soon as I returned from the holiday, my boss walked in my office and asked for my resignation.  He said 4 women had said they were uncomfortable working around me, and had said I touched them inappropriately.  No further explanations, no discussion.  I was escorted off the premises.

Completely fabricated and false.  

Anyway, it was horrible.  Violated everything I have ever believed about women, workplace ethics, and basic fairness.

 The stress was incredible.   Just completed a year long move to a new state, no friends or contacts, no income at all for my family, $50K bigger mortgage.  I thought my chest was gonna explode for 3 days.

The good news is my old company was quick to rehire me, with a $21K raise.  I start tomorrow.

I’m pretty excited to be back in the saddle.  Medical was not the right environment for me.

It feels good to be going back.  I respect the company and it’s owners, know all the staff, and know they value what I have to offer.

First project- a new Chrysler dealership in Beaufort SC.  16 month project.  It’s the first dealership in the country with new Chrysler branding, so it should get a lot of attention.

And wow buddy. I was going to call you multiple times last week to talk about mr2s. Sounds like we wouldn't have had time to talk mr2 but I probably should've got off my lazy butt and called you anyway.

My deal is that I stay in SC and encourage company expansion into the area. (Although I will go where they send me).

Congrats, man. I've been in transition for two years now. I went from hemorrhaging money to working full time with only a small leak when the car needed an alignment, etc. Being alone in a strange new town with no shop space sucks. Hopefully this will make you whole again.

I'd probably still go after it, if not just to cause them misery for falsely getting you fired

I recall thinking things might not go well when you talked about the woman that made you feel uncomfortable.

Glad things worked out for you.  I'm not a fan of lawsuits or lawfare especially as only the lawyers win but I am a huge fan of a very old moral theory 'just deserts'.  Sometimes I wonder if I'm more Old T. rather than New.

I am absolutely confident they will receive their “just desserts”. I don’t have to be the one to serve them, and neither does my attorney.

Yes and no.  

Valid or not, simple allegation of wrong doing can haunt you. Tragically,  I know of nothing to make it go away.  

Its no longer your word against hers which carries little weight and is easily dismissed. It’s  4 women who even if they are colluding, cannot be dismissed.

If you take legal recourse, it’s now official and publically  accessible.  If you wait until it goes away hoping it’s not in some HR  records. It’s therewith no statue of limitations requirement to dispose of. 

When I got my top secret back ground check done you’d be astonished at what they found. My friendship with a “known Hot rider” days I missed classes, tickets and girlfriends I’d known for as little as one date. 

This was decades before the internet and required a team of FBI agents months to dig up.  

While you may not ever need such a clearance the ease information is accessible scares the ship out of me.

I’ve pretty much made my decision. 

This is about my personal health. I am looking forward, positively. I am not interested in the stress and negativity that will come from a lawsuit. 

They’ve made it clear they are willing to lie and fabricate information.  The only thing a lawsuit will do is open up files full of more lies. 

I’ve had top secret clearances in the past.  If I ever need them again, my company will have to figure it out, or send someone else.

Thanks for your advice, but I am content. 

There is no way I could let that behavior go unpunished, as much to prevent it happening again to someone else as to clear my own name.  Good luck at the old new job, er, new old job

Glad you landed on your feet Paul, hearing about this really pisses me off. Anyone who knows you will smell the turds they are serving up. I admire your attitude, you're a better person than I am.

Yeah, walk away from it.  Berk 'em.  They'll get theirs eventually anyway.   Any organization that will do that to someone is totally berkeleyed up and not worth your time.

I agree that it sounds like they wanted you out and this is the easiest way w/ very unlikely any financial repercussions for them.

I'm very sorry it happened to you, but you could look at it as they did you a favor by letting you know how berked they are as upper leadership. Didn't they cover a fair chunk of your move, too? A move that was good for you for some other personal reasons?

You know you're a resilient person. Looking forward and washing your hands definitely sounds like the best for your health and happiness. And hey, maybe it just helped reinforce for you how much you love the work you were doing before.

The best revenge is to buy a souvenir from the bankruptcy auction after they go belly up.
