So, I guess the question remains, what E36 M3 wrapper are they doing to put this thing in, given the COTF takes affect next year?
No, thats just two SR20s super glued together.

I'm still trying to decide if this is a bad thing.
If it holds together I say it's not.
Remember, Nissan has a successful history in this Championship under Group C and then Group A rules in the 80's and 90's
Is that the beefed up truck engine? I can't decipher Nissan engine code.

The durability and power of an SR20 rather respectable. I think essentially the same technology being used for a 4.0 V8 would be cheap and effective. I have a feeling this V8 has a little more displacement, though.

I know that the V8 Supercars are the Australian equivalent of NASCAR, but Supercars are closer to the production vehicle than stock cars are.
HOWEVER, with Ford dumping the Falcon for the Taurus in the AU market, I foresee the Supercars turning into the same thing as NASCAR Stock Cars. So, I see Nissan most likely a Maxima body (because the Supercars are all 4-Door sedans)

Well given the Holden was sectioned to make fit on the same basic platform as the Falcon..... Just how "stock is stock"?

Interesting. What I got from Wiki:
ach V8 Supercar is based on a current-specification VE Commodore or FG Falcon production bodyshell, with an elaborate roll cage. In 2007, new rules stipulated both the Commodore and Falcon adopt composite front mudguards in place of the production steel items, in order to save costs. The composite guards are a homologated (fixed) laminate of fibreglass and aramid (or similar) fibres.
The VE Commodore was initially rejected from taking part in the series due to its wheelbase being longer and wider than the BF Falcon. For the model to be homologated, V8 Supercar granted the Commodore a custom fabricated bodyshell into which a limited number of production bodyshell panels are incorporated. As a result, the roofline is lower than production and the rear door is shorter such that externally the rear doors, roof and rear quarters all consist of specialised custom coachwork panels.
Similarly, the longer wheelbase of the FG Falcon (over the BF) requires a comparable custom-fabricated shorter body, and the FG is also shortened in the rear door and lowered in the roof line compared to the road going model.
So they still are on a monocoque chassis and use a few production body parts. I would still say that's closer to stock than a NASCAR Stock Car.

And now it really doesn't matter given the rules mandate for the Car Of The Future. They will just look like the road going cars they replicate, barely.
In reply to Ranger50:
Yeah I did just read that. So they will be closer to Stock Cars than production cars. I think the only thing they will still use from the production cars is the lights, grilles, and emblems.
I also read that Nissan will be using the Altima as a vehicle basis.
E-85 and only 10/1 compression.![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
As long as the racing stays incredible, I don't care what's underneath.

yeah, seems like a waste of a good fuel.. unless they start allowing turbos, then that compression ratio would be just about right..

From what I've been told you would be wrong.
I would guess the rules require a 10:1 C/R, probably to keep them alive longer.
It's hard enough trying to get one SR 20 a week before race wars! Can you imagine trying to scrounge up two?!
