I think Wowak is onto something here. I think some of the people you have been classifying as a-holes are actualy just completely oblivious. Having a mental handicap when it comes to driving doesnt make you an a-hole.
The old person driving 3 mph in their 80's buick with 15k miles on the odo, the slow poke prius driver, and the minivan mom who has never mastered the ability to stay between two lines arent a-holes, they simply suck for one reason or another at driving.
The people that tailgate others, swirve in and out of traffic, use their horn and highbeams to show anger, or use the size or expense of their vehicle to try to bully other drivers are that ones that are a-holes.

My bro lived in Daytona while going to school. He talked about the "slow races" all the time. That's when two cars piloted by the elderly go as slow as possible right beside each other blocking all lanes of traffic.
I once rode behind one of these "slow races" for about 5 miles, going 20mph below the speed limit, until eventually the one on the left drifted left, and the one on the right drifted to the right, and I drove BETWEEN them, then took both hands off the wheel so I could give them BOTH a finger.
Honestly they're just lucky I didn't have a gun. FWIW I was drivng my truck, not the Miata.
Around here, it's mostly full size SUVs and Trucks, but that depends on how you want to define it. They seem to be the worst at pushing you out of the way, knowing they outweight you. It does piss them off when I refuse to be intimidated by them, as most people seem to be.
If you want to talk arrogance by make, BMW gets my vote. When you get out of a car wearing matching BMW shirts, hats and booties, it's all a bit much. I do find people in the Porsche club buy their cars more for the driving than the BMW people do (although there are some that don't), where a good number of them just want to be seen parading around the country club with the "right" logo. That's not to say all BMW people are like this, I found a bunch that truly love the driving over the "I just want to show off" aspect. It's something I call the "near rich" syndrom. Most of the people I know that really have money don't feel the need to show off as much as some of the guys that are "almost" there, and BMW seems to be their chosen marque.

The Corvettes I see on the road are apparently governed to 5 mph under the speed limit at all times. COME ON! If you're going to do that, I'll trade you my Volvo's engine for that useless LSX.
They're compensating... for the Corvette's cop magnetism, an effect I experienced firsthand back when I had one.

The drivers In my little part of northern California are equal opportunity offenders. I have seen crappy distracted driving and genuine a-holery in just about everything.

I once did the exact same thing. I think that proves that @$$holes drive Rangers and Miatas.

Having grown up in a Jersey shore town I must say the worst drivers are.. just about everyone on vacation. My hometown population goes from about 15,000 in the winter to over 130,000 in the summer. The place is a zoo. What you get are suburbanite type drivers who are all of a sudden thrown into a crowded urban setting with pedestrians, bicyclists, and MANY interesections. Talk about babes in the woods. On top of this they are in their vacation mindset, usually don't have a clue as to where they are going, and you get the pompous yuppie rich folk (I grew up in one of the nicer towns). It takes me 2x-3x as long to get anywhere as it does in the offseason. Also everything costs a premium due to business owners gouging tourists.. and they wonder why the locals have "attitudes" sometimes.
(yes it's been a long day)
So when I travel, I make sure that I know where the heck I'm going ahead of time, go with the flow of traffic, and give plenty of room to the locals.
I always wondered about people who choose to live in tourist towns that complain abot the tourists. That's like people buying houses next to racetracks and airports and complaining about the noise.
People can choose to be jerks or not. Most of the time it isn't bad, but that select few
The benefits outweigh the negatives BY FAR.
Cars that are 99% of the time driven by arseholes:
-Any new Mercedes/BMW/Saab/Volvo/Yuppie-mobile
-Acura RDX
-Cadillac Escalade
There seems to be a pattern...expensive....

that is not the case around me, half the time I see some one pulled over, its a mini van or something equally "sedate". Twice in the past year or so my father was pulled over in my mothers '99 Taurus.

Illions. They have more crazzy-jack-a$$ drivers. I LOVE OHIO!
Around here it seems to be Chrysler products. Mostly Magnums, Chargers and 300's.
I think it's because most of the owners are wannabe gangsta's

Almost every shiny happy person I have ever met drives a P71 or a 9C1.
They also work for the local, regional or state goverments...

There's idiots driving every type of vehicle out there. But that's mostly what I see being operated in a shiny happy manner around here, the pricey statusmobiles. Generally, if it's expensive as hell the yarkoff sitting in the left front seat (not driving, just sitting there playing with all the shiny pretty knobs and buttons) will park at weird angles so the proletariat don't scratch their pearlescent paint, tailgate at stupid high speeds while blathering on the phone and said vehicle is expected to be given the right of way just because. Add extra asshattery points if there is an AMG or similar badge anywhere on the vehicle.
Prii (plural of Prius) are right up there as well.

Tips for breaking up slow races from a veteran: Get behind the trailing racer. It works well. Make sure you really get a bark out of the exhaust when you drop 2-3 gears to match their speed as well, that helps.

Interesting, there's a certain area on my island that also has an incredibly high concentration of bad drivers (St. Philip). It's widely considered to be because none of them have driver's licenses or insurance, and while they usually have plates, many of them have expired road tax discs. There are practically no cops out there so they just buy cars and drive them around like grannies, since they don't have any real training. Among the worst things I've ever seen is someone stopping for this gentle sweeping curve. I'll never forget that.
Yes, stopping, coming to a complete stop. I E36 M3 you not.
i used to frequent a gas saving forum and the prevailing attitude was that it was ok to slow every one else up because that means you are helping them save gas as well. in the long run it is better to help them save gas and have them angry at you than to let them pass. i don't go there any more because i think that is an ignorant way to live and drive.

A few weeks back I caught sight of a Prius with racing stripes. Can't comment on any of the driver's other defects of character, but I humbly submit that he is deeply confused and seriously conflicted.

Some people rice their cars out as a joke, I know a few, and they're very nice intelligent people. I hope that's why that guy put racing stripes on a Prius.

Hmm, rolling satire; never occured to me. It would certainly excuse a lot of questionable style statements. "The dubs on my Yaris? Simply a protest against consumer culture. You didn't think I was serious, did you?" And here I thought the guys on "Unique Whips" were just a bunch of tasteless bozos . . .
