RIP:
berkeley Cancer
No E36 M3s were given when Norm tied into someone. No hostages.
His delivery took me quite a while to accept, but he was one funny SOB. Sorry to hear about this.
His delivery definitely took some adjusting to but once you did, holy hell was he a funny dude.
RIP.

Facebook had served me up that video recently. Upon reading this news I thought I'd post the link. I didn't realize that Letterman had been such a staple of his career.

He was definitely an acquired taste. I got him.
Big fan here. I still say he was the best Weekend Update host that SNL has ever had.
If you have Peacock, they have a collection of his SNL skits up right now. It includes 3 episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy.
Big fan here as well.. Norm Macdonald has been making jokes about cancer for a while, and him not really saying he was dealing with is very in character:
Yep, I was bummed when I heard the news yesterday. One of the all-time greats. His acerbic, deadpan style just killed me. RIP.
There was a story, I hope is true, that Norm wanted to play Burt Reynolds on Celebrity Jeopardy and have the real Burt Reynolds come out, coldcock Norm's Burt, and take his place. And be even dumber. Burt Reynolds was completely on board. And then Norm got fired.
What a skit that would have been.
In reply to Appleseed :
That would have been epic.
I keep hearing rumblings that a big reason he was fired was for calling out OJ repeatedly (which totally tracks with his personality). But ya know, this being the internet and all I have seen no actual proof.
In reply to iansane :
Its pretty much confirmed that he got fired over making more and more savage jokes about OJ. Some exec was friends with OJ and got all butthurt over it. Years later Norm Macdonald tried to get OJ on his podcast and I guess OJ was on board but then his lawyer put two and two together and wouldn't let him go on
