All GRMers know that the finest handling vehicle is always a rental car, especially with collision insurance. But what about tires? Well, I actually found quite a few companies that will rent you either tires or a tire and rim combo for a short period of time, usually three months but some companies will rent weekly. Has anyone actually tried this? Do they charge you for excessive treadwear? Unfortunately, I didn't find any that rented Hoosiers, just the cheap ones Kumho, Nexens, Falken, Nito, etc.
A lot of tracks used to do this....
but I don't think I'd have much luck going to rent to roll and getting bead locks and wrinkle walls.
I'll bet the ones they rent are already pretty much used up.
Actually, they aren't race tires, just normal road tires for rent. Upon further Insoection, it looks like most places are "rent to buy", darn.
Anyone rent new Hoosier A6s?

Ah, got it. Like the rent-to-own furniture places. Me no like, a lot of the time you pay a lot more because of the interest charges. "Easy credit ripoffs.." etc.

Hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds here, but Evolution is considering a wheel and tire rental program. They'd have several sets of wheels for popular cars on the truck, mounted up with the latest and greatest rubber. You show up with your car for a school or Super Shootout, hand them a few bucks and use their tires for the day/weekend/event/etc. Sounds like genius to me. No more tire trailer, no more storage hassles.

That is a great idea. And if you're too busy/broke/carless for a season, your tires don't sit in the basement getting harder.
i thought it was only the donk crowd that rented wheels..

Rental cars are also automatically offroad package equipped. Let's just say, I never knew a Taurus wagon could do that. I bet Enterprise didn't either.

I doubt they thought an explorer could jump either.......Teckademics used to have at least one "Rental Abuse" segment in their films.
I had a coworker whose cousin called up with a family emergency and dude had to leave work. Apparently said cousin had taken a date to the mall and come out to find his Caddy up on blocks in the mall parking lot because he was late on his wheel payment. Funny stuff, that.
About 3 years ago I designed signs for the first one of those in South Macon (GA.) You would not believe the dollar figures the guy told me. I tried to get him to sell me some wheels at cost, but he didn't have any connections for real wheels, only giant chrome knock-offs. And Spinnaz!
