Kind of in the beginning stages of planning a vacation for next August. I was surprised when a Google search brought up plane ticket prices this far out.

Is there a website or chrome extension or something that I could plug the dates and airports into that would alert me if/when the tickets hit a certain price point?

I'd kind of like to keep track at 2 major airports, but if it listed smaller ones too that would be a bonus.

Late edit:

So hey, let's make this a 2 part thread. Dana and I are planning a vacation for the 2 of us. Late July or August, so the kids can be handled here. Budget of $1000 per person. Our goal is couples time and GREAT food.

Original plan wss my old stomping ground outside Sacramento, because I miss so much of the food I just can't get here. This plan has expanded somewhat, and we're now trying to pick between 4 places.

Sacramento/northern California

Vegas

Seattle

Somewhere in Maine.

I'm leaning towards Sacramento/nor cal or Vegas. I know where I want to go in California, and I didn't really get to do anything the last time I was in Vegas. Seattle I feel is to expensive and to wet, but I'm open minded because I would like to visit it some day.

Maine she threw out of left field, and in interests me. What's it like in August? Is there more to eat than lobster? I'm picturing a colder Pennsylvania, would that be accurate?

I found the app "hopper" which is supposed to do just that, but I'm going to need to manually punch in a good many combinations to get it to track.

So looking for something that will automatically include nearby airports, and maybe filter by arrive/depart time and layover time?

Seattle typically has 2 or 3 weeks of beautiful non-rainy weather in August based on the 4 years I lived out that way. July should also be a good time to go.

I still remember a New England trip with my family from when I was in high school along time ago.  I thought it was fantastic.  Scenery, food, history, all were amazing.  I returned to the area many times for work 15 years ago and still like the area.  I lived in Pittsburgh and head to the Baltimore area regularly for work now and those areas are much different from NE.

After talking more today, it sounds like we're going to Vegas in July or August. Gonna be HOT, but not terribly expensive.

Until I add in a day at the police chase experience running from the cops and getting PIT maneuvered that is.

Eeh Vegas is ok in the fall or winter. To damn hot any other time. Seattle is only rainy in July and August if you are from California. Didn't think Vegas was all that cheap when me and the wife were there in October. Kind of surprised at how expensive some things were. Seattle can be expensive but not really anymore than some other big cities. Now housing that's another story. I think the last couple of years they've run the chump cars or lemon's 24 hr race at the Ridge which is about 2-2 1/2 hrs south and west in July.

I'll 2nd Scott's cheap flights, booked Japan/Hawaii/Europe myself and prob 3-4 trips by my immediate family from their info. The paid notification is worth it if you can pull the trigger on something that quick.

Also the WAPO just did a good article on this topic.
