Apparently they were one of the places where Stephen King got his writing career started.

I'm pretty sure that when I was a kid, finding a box of old Playboys at the dump led to my lifelong obsession with junk, both mine and other people's.

Yes, seriously. I lived near Quad-Graphics, when I was a kid, and they printed Hustler. The Soo Line railroad ran right behind the factory.
