So the NYPD rolls out a fleet of 40 or so hybrid cars yesterday. Are they Fords? No. GM's? No. Chrysler? No. They're Altimas. Nothing against Nissan, but if the government is going to throw money at car companies why not throw some at them and buy their cars?
These are the same idiots that want to tell me what and how to drive? Bloomberg is a (insert fwd mc powered car reference here) idiot.
According to the NHTSA, the 2009 Ford Fusion has 55% domestic content where domestic means US and/or Canada.
The 2009 Altima also has 55%.

Before you answer, know that the 2010 Ford Fusion has 25% domestic content.
Keep in mind that all Fusion Hybrids are 2010 models.
I am not sure of the 2010 Altima since the website has not been updated but you can stop by a Ford or Nissan Dealer and read it off the window sticker yourself.
As a side note, the Malibu Hybrid is 80% domestic (in 2009) but it is also smaller and may not meet the NYC PD's requirements.
I'm aware of how fuzzy this domestic/import argument can get.
However, my point was that we have been throwing government money at car companies recently. I'm not for that, but if we are going to throw money at them, how about at least getting some cars in return.
