My dad has this sort of disorder thing. Well, by the looks of it, most of us here have it too. He buys things compulsively. Or impulsively. OK, both. He bought a 745Li when he was looking at a replacement for his tired old F-150. He bought a great-big John Deere herculean tractor when all he needed to do was mow the lawn. And now, it looks like he has his eye on a 1972ish VW Karmen Ghia.
Details. It's British Racing green. It only starts when the throttle is pinned, but it comes with a brand new carburetor. It also has a brand new top (convertible?). Asking price? Well, let's just say that the asking price of this car not only puts it into challenge car territory, it's downright 24 hour of Lemons territory. $500.00. My mom is definitely not on board with this. If he didn't buy the tractor, or maybe the BMW, she probably wouldn't mind. But his spending habits have even me thinking that the Ghia isn't a good idea.
If I had the dough, I'd be all over this thing for myself (24 hours of LEMONS!). That's why I don't know what to tell him.
So, does it sound like a good buy?
