Yep.... got that letter in the mail yesterday. Now, it would be comical on the two dailies.... a 2006 GMC and a 2008 Kia. Both have been out of warranty for a very long time. Nope.... it wasn't for them.
Did you know that the factory warranty on my 1978 Cheverolet truck is about to expire? HOLY CRAP! Too bad it expired somewhere north of 35 years ago.

Oh those stupid people.
"Hello, Mr Tuna, this is the warranty department..."
Always for the Leaf. Which was a lease. Which ended. Almost three years ago.
I get those all the time for my Hyundai, that gave it's life to save mine, 12 years ago. I find it especially hilarious when I get one for the Disco. Along the lines of "are you sure you want to warranty this?"

I actually bought an aftermarket warranty for a used car once. My wife wanted a New Beetle convertible but I knew they were junk. For some reason the "extended" warranty quote from the credit union was only a grand and covered a decent amount of issues (yes I read the fine print). Between the convertbile top mechanism committing harikari one piece at a time, every power window regulator failing, and various electrical items self-destructing, I racked up nearly $3,500 in warranty claims before ditching the rolling dumpster fire at her request. #winning
Sounds like the Kalif DMV.
We still get a letter every now and then about collecting back registration fees due on a car we had titled there, we moved to Oregon almost 15 years ago.
Titled the car properly in OR when we moved, sold the car a couple of years ago to a friends daughter, a year ago it was rear ended and totaled by the insurance co.
I like the mailings that say something like "There's a huge demand for used cars right now! Particularly the year, make and model you own! Come on down to our dealership and we'll pay top dollar for yours!" I can't fathom the circumstances that would create a demand for rusty 15 year old Ford Tauruses ( Taurii ?) with over 200k miles on them. It's a little more beliveable now that we have a 15 year old non-rusty but still ratty looking S60 Volvo with 180k miles on it but still...

Pretty much. I had to get a certified letter from Illinois that one of the Vipers I sold was totalled becasue california would not renew my licence on a car that was out of registration for almost 5 years.
I get renew your warrenty letters on a weekly basis for stuff I have not even owned for 15 years.
I got a very official looking invoice yesterday from "EMV Compliance" or something in Dallas. Couple hundred bucks for "Current account balance." Never heard of them, no idea what they thought they were billing me for, although there was something about "terminal EMV compliance." Certainly didn't contact them. Near as I can tell, they just send a bill to all physicians or physicians offices and hope some office manager sends them a check. I used to get similar invoices when I had my own Telex number, back before email. Those usually came from out of the country.

I remember dealing with similar mailings for "directory" advertising.
Remember telephone directory advertising?
I started getting "your warranty is about to expire" junk mail less than a month after buying my FoST new from the dealership. Now I know what all those credit application forms they make you sign are *really* for.
Ive received calls about the warranty on my zephyr. Its almost 40 years old and ive never owned a vehicle with a warranty. Not sure if warranty or auto insurance companys make me more dumb offers.

Many "your warranty is about to expire" letters for the Abarth. Rolling the dice on a Fiat, currently at 53k.
I still get letters telling me that my local dealer has people interested in my used (insert used POS here) and that I need to come in and sell it and get something new. Sure, people are clamoring for used Kia Rondos and Souls, the latter I haven't owned in a while.

Coming from Illinois, that letter is probably legit. Unlawful, but legit.

I was getting 2-3 letters/ month for warranty expiration for my '12 Sierra that I traded in '14. Started receiving 2-3 calls/ week for the same. I quit answering my phone if I didn't recognize the number, leave a berkeleying message if it's that damn important. berkeley off.

A warranty company called my desk at work. They would not give me a quote to cover the 50 1999 RTSs in the basement of the depot.

They get the info either from the DMV system or insurance providers. As soon as I register a car, I'll get 3 or 4 of these letters in the following month. Cars that have no paper trail anywhere else.

I get the calls all the time for my '03 Buick and my Malibu. Thing is, I have never owned either of those cars but my Father in law's Buick and my Brother's Malibu were once on my XM account. Coincidence?
