Neat, I like the use of drainage pipe. I thought of stuff like this as a teenager, and then some, but didn't have the money or gumption. Knowing that I could was good enough.

From what I was taught in history classes..usually, whatever white guys got to the place first. With a side order of "..well, that's wut the injuns called it..".
It's great to see a kid who's not spending all his time playing video games, it restores a little of my faith in humanity.
You wanna talk about weird place names? Got two for you here in SC: Ninety Six and Round O. Don't think the Injuns came up with either of those.

That's always a danger when you go with a local indigenous words, and you guys have had some similarly odd lake names for the same reason: Wapikamaski and Sesegahana? The bigger problem, in Canada, at least, comes when you don't go that route. Who came up with "Add Lake?" The lake is already there! (And I don't want to know about what you guys do on "fishing" trips at Johnson Island)

FTFY. Why don't we have a submersible class? Budget submarines would be cool.

Somebody a couple counties over from where I live built a "Lake Side Lake." Apparently, whoever issues lake-building permits doesn't require coming up with a good name for them. An "Add Lake" might make sense here, as Georgia doesn't have natural lakes.
Back to the regular topic, that backyard submarine is amazing. Makes me want to try getting some drainage pipe, if I didn't have so many projects already.

It's an American tradition: Slaughter the Indians, steal their land, then name stuff after them.

You mean: kill something, build houses where it used to live, and name stuff after it.
It looks like this is the only way to name subdivisions: Quail Hollow, Deer Run, Dogwood Estates, Foxwood, Palmetto Lane, Cottonwood hills, Cherry Creek, etc.

Like the state of Deleware? Honestly though, the Deleware were a Tribe in the Leni Lenapi Nation. They quietly left in the middle of the night and moved to Canada rather than deal with the White Man.
We also have a Lake Patcong about 5 miles from here.. but you do not need a submarine to see the bottom.. you can walk across it (and probably still not see the bottom)

The subdivision I live in is called "Apache Woods". Even though Apaches lived about 2Kmi. away from the place. I can't tell if this is a data point for your hypothesis, or one against it.
OTOH, the house my ex & I bought years ago was named "Hice Farm" for what the land was before it was developed. The streets through the place were named after the guy, his wife, and their kids. You may be correct.
Anyway..the place doesn't have an HOA anymore. To us, that's more important than the name on the entrance.

You answered your own question But fwiw, he'll be a senior next school year. Not that unusual to be honest.
not graduating until 19? They must be starting later than I remember. I graduated with many 17 year olds. The only people I knew that graduated past 18 were held back a few times.
newspaper said: "There’s a whole new thing that occurs in your life when GRM Challenge builders move in next door," Scrocco said. "We never throw out anything mechanical ever again before you ask the Challengerfirst: ‘Are there any parts you need?’
FTFY

I actualy think that's great, hold your kid until they are ready to start 1st grade, not force them in and watch them fail if they are a little behind developmentaly at that time
