Bean and dropping Liz out of a helicopter were good. Beyond that, a little too much running in place. FF'd through most of the second half. Thank baby Jesus for DVRs!!

Sir Paul is doing great. Overall, I didnt get that "thrill" that I did watching the last one, but this was still pretty good.
We caught the last 2 or so hours of the opening ceremonies. McCartney did well, but I'm still lobbying for Maiden.
I'm sure every news outlet is working to put a local spin on things. The other day I learned that the reigning beach volleyball player comes from here in Ormond Beach: http://www.news-journalonline.com/sports/local-sports/2012/07/27/olympic-volleyball-star-from-ormond-keeps-low-profile.html
The things you learn. Who knows, maybe we have been side-by-side at a red light or been at the same checkout line at Publix. Either way, good luck to the local guy.
Oh, and Ryan Lochte, who just won another gold, is from Port Orange. That's like 20 minutes away. I guess that makes him local, too--same area code but different exit off I-95.
Did anyone else feel like the British dressed their athletes like they were going to perform an Aryan version of Triller?
If I was gonna try to celebrate 4 decades of culture in ANY country, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't choose the '70's, 80's, '90's, and '00's. And I certainly woulnd't make it look like a high tech electronically aided LSD trip.
I had a REALLY hard time hearing the name "Bob Costas" so many times. I kept substituting the word I plug in when I read it on this forum!
It was awful.
I was trying to figure out the overall theme.
It was kind of like Frodo Baggins meets the evils of industrialization, but somehow managed to include a bunch of nurses jumping up and down on enormously oversized electrified beds.
Oh, and I was so glad to see they didn't overlook including something about a hundred Mary Poppinses (Poppinsii?) fighting off a 100' tall Voldemort.
Yep. Definitely a bad dose of LSD.
The parts I watched were too PC, too many news people and singers that are old and failing at looking young. Too much fluff. All image and no substance.
It was like watching a 5yo with a new pair of shoes. "Look at me!!! Look how fast I can go!!!"
