Indeed. This was the part that impressed me most, though.

Last year he ran 45.02 for the open 400. This year he's been about a half-second slower. He did not qualify originally for the South African team but they opened a spot for him.

I don't see Oscar making the open 400 final but South Africa has no chance in the 4x400 relay without him. He's one of the top 20 400 meter runners in the world.

Since we're talking 4x400 here, the Belgians suddenly have four really good guys. I will go out on a limb and predict a medal for them.

Oscar is a real inspiration but I find his inclusion to be a bit ironic.

Recently, an IOC poobah was asked if motorsports would ever be included and his response was basically "Never; technology has no place in the Games".
