I drove the Camry 120 miles to Tulsa Christmas morning. There was 2" of ice on the road the whole way. Yoko snows rock. I did get beat off the line by a 4 wheel drive Taco.

-4F is about as cold as I've ever seen it here. We've been having some low to mid teens so far. About 20F this morning. 2" of snow forecasted for tonight.

You should buy one of these!

I'd hate to get drowned due to turtle farts.

Here in Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie (with wind coming straight out of Canada) I used to work with a guy who easily weighed 350lbs. You used to know it was into the negative temps when you would see him wearing a cardigan sweater.

Even in MD yesterday the temp was less than 30 most of the day but the wind chill had it down to 0 during gusts and around 10* most of the day.

When I was working on boats, 12 degrees was where I drew the line. Any colder and I refused to work outside.

I hate the cold weather (I'm from Long Island, NY originally), but the same people who laugh at us for thinking that's cold are usually dropping to the ground when the temperature hits 75, so we'll call it a draw.

I laugh because, today, I changed out a starter on my Caprice. In the driveway. Bare handed. In 25 deg. weather (windchill was a motherberklyer). And it was snowing. Desperation makes you do crazy things.

But I also worked for weeks in 90-100 deg. weather this summer. In pants. Desperation makes you do crazy things.

Iguanas are tasty. As are gators, snakes, and frogs. I like me some wild stuff that used to be a reptile before it was my dinner.

That's the truth. I worked at a car wash years ago for barely more than $6/hr. I worked outside for several hours at a time when we were hitting triple-digit temps in summer. I almost ended up losing money working there. The management charged us employees full price for precious water. $1.75 per bottle. Bastards.

I'm tired of hearing the Yankees dissin' us Southern Folk because we don't like the cold. I've got a buddy here who grew up in Boston that does that. Last time we actually had a hot summer in Georgia, I invited him to a 4th of July barbeque in the 95deg heat.

He said it was too hot, and I got my revenge!

The story I'm always reminded of is back in 2001 when I had a friend from Seattle visit me. He'd never been to the South before. I met him in the comfort of the air conditioned terminal of the Birmingham International Airport. In long pants. In August. I thought the poor guy was going to have a heat stroke the instant we stepped out the front door.

I'm a born Yankee, raised Southerner. I like warmer temperatures more than most born Southerners I know I hear people complain it's too hot when it's still in the 80s and say they can't wait for winter. I hate winter. I might take a lesson from the birds and migrate south. Australia seems like a really cool place to go take refuge. New Zealand too.

It's 30 now in charlotte NC and the low is 19 on Sunday :-/

We're not built or prepared for that kind of cold around these parts

It's making me wish I did but in racing seats in the DD, those early mornings were much nicer with butt warmers.

I recall a "heat wave" in Louisville, Ky. It got up to 85, with humidity of 45%. I kept a straight face the entire time, with my wife having to answer the eternal "It is hot enough for you?" with the "This is cool weather" answer. Not once did I laugh at anyone for being such weenies.

It did snow that winter, which to this southern boy was a month long treat.
