It's beautiful here now. Mid 70's, sunny, low humidity, the kind of weather that reminds you why you moved here. Check back with me in August and see how I feel.
It is snowing and the wind is blowing about 30 mph here right now. You can see MAYBE 10 feet in front of your face at the moment outside.
Dammit... it's 20 degrees out. Though in all fairness, if the fuzz wasn't crawling, I'd probably try and hold snow rally tonight.
-31 C this morning. Up to -20 by noon, no wind, clear blue sky. A very nice day, in my part of the world.
No hobos sleepin on our park benches!
I'm wishing for below 0 F so it freezes the lakes so I can go ice racing..Had close to that last week.

Where are you located? WI by any chance? I know there is ice racing near FDL which I want to check out some time this winter.

Lemons, lemonade.
I was in Silverton CO some years back in August, it hit 82 degrees and the locals were whining about the heat. That's springtime weather around these parts.
The NOAA forecast for my area calls for lows in the low '20's and highs in the mid to high '40's from Saturday through at least Thursday of next week. The locals will be boo hooing like crazy. Sissies.
Makes me real glad to be out of the Midwest, and closer to the coast. It might be a bit warmer here in the summer, but it's way warmer in winter. I rode the motorcycle ~1000 miles on my Christmas vacation, the people back home nearly got snowed in.
My first winter after leaving the snow belt, and I've already decided that I'm never going back.
Wife and I moved to CT from SC. Today we were both wearing hoodies and walking around in 35 degree temps with snow falling. Cold tolerance comes back fast I guess.
(Though I will say that 35 degF down south, with humidity, is a 100% worse than 20 degF up here... It is a different cold).
I grew up in Canada, and I've worked in the arctic. My wife grew up in the desert. We have very conflicting attitudes towards what is nice weather. My cold tolerance never left me when I moved here, but my humidity and cloudy sky tolerances both disappeared almost immediately.
100F? I'm dying, she's lying on a rock like a lizard to soak it all up.
10F? I'm happy as a clam, she's trying to sit on the woodstove.
The guys in Silverton have earned the right to complain about 85F. Here's what they usually deal with. Taken at the end of February:

Come to think of it, maybe my cold tolerance has left me. There was a windchill of -23C (about -10F) when this picture was taken 10 years ago. I'm not sure I'd do that now.

Last time we actually had a *hot* summer in Georgia, I invited him to a 4th of July barbeque in the 95deg heat. He said it was too hot, and I got my revenge!I'm a born Yankee, raised Southerner. I like warmer temperatures more than most born Southerners I know I hear people complain it's too hot when it's still in the 80s and say they can't wait for winter. I hate winter. I might take a lesson from the birds and migrate south. Australia seems like a really cool place to go take refuge. New Zealand too.
ROFL! I've often said that if I ever win the lottery, I'll build a home in the Cayman Islands, and never see the seasons change again.
But I know it's a lie. If I ever win the lottery, I'll get back in shape and buy one of those "sponsored seats available" drives in a Porsche GT team at LeMans.
Q: How do you make a small fortune in motor racing?
A: Start with a large one.

Upstate NYS, lower Adirondacks. Club has been iceracing for over 40 yrs.
the call is for lows of 22 tonight, 15 tomorrow night, and 18 for Sun night...at least my driveway will freeze and be drivable... during the snow "event" I spun through the snow, the little bit of road bond that was left and into the red clay beneath ... so now there are 6 to 12" deep ruts and slick as owl stuff red clay over 1/2 of my drive...
oh well ... dump truck and tractor time

NWS says below 20F Saturday night for Atlanta metro (and under freezing at night for the next week)..but at least no precipitation. I need to go check the antifreeze in the Corrados, though..

Yep, been to the Shady Lady. I wonder if Handlebars is still open?
wow... Mon it's suppose to get all the way up to 30..(tonight and tomorrow night 15 - 18) brrrrrrrrrrr
I rode the motorcycle today, had to grab the engine to regain feeling in my fingers when I was almost home, ~40*F. I need to move further south.
Yesterday picked up Maroon92's CV in MI, it was pretty cold. He has a huge concrete area in his parent's back yard, drove the van with trailer down, loaded the CV and tried to leave....hmm, had to be pulled out with their tractor to get up the driveway and up to the next corner to head downhill and gain some momentum until I got back to a road, his gravel road was a sheet of ice.
By the way, that's the first time the van couldn't get the job done.

My hats off to you on that. It has been high twenties at the house and I keep putting off changing the oil in the wifes car. I think I'll have to man up tomorrow.
You'll need to log in to post.
