I hear Toyota has "fixed" that issue of their cars being long lasting and reliable.

This is satire, but a few years ago a Porsche spokesperson said something like "we do not cater to used car buyers."

I'm laughing inside because my neighbor has a 95 (wagon version) he bought for his son.

mileage? oh, not very high. 285,000 and idles smoother than most cars new.

i work with a guy who swears by them. he has 8. all purchased for under $1000. he usually buys three, makes one nice one, scraps the shells and crates the spares in his barn. all three of his kids have one, his wife has two, (one wagon, one two door), and he alternates between two sedans and the wagon. only one 5-speed, though. he would have more, as he likes the stick to drive, but he claims ALL of the autos get better mileage, by a fair margin, including the 330k wagon.

funny thing is, hes now fixing them up and selling them to hard up co-workers who need a quick solid ride cheap, so we have like 5 here in the parking lot, and i'm sure we'll have more soon.

sorry toyota, no dice.

i posted it on facebook... i can't wait for my mom and some of my more clueless aunts to get all outraged like they do at other Onion articles because "satire" isn't something that moms and aunts quite grasp on the internet..
