I'm heading to Orlando soon for a long weekend (Thr-Sun) and would like to take the family (spouse, 2nd grader and toddler). Tickets for the big theme parks are very expensive and I'm not sure if the weather will be warm enough for the family to spend most of the day outside. What other fun family things are there to do in Orlando this time of year? So far the Orlando Science Center looks promising, but I'm coming up short on other ideas.

The Kennedy Space Center is about a 45 minute drive from Orlando and is a fantastic place to bring kids. Weather can be hit or miss, but today is 72 and sunny, which is pretty standard this time of year.

The Fantasy of Flight is also really cool if the kids are into old airplanes

Oh yeah. If you like steak, set aside some bucks and go to Charlie's steak house on International Drive. I was totally expecting a tourist trap when we walked in. Best steak I've ever had.

JoeyM is locally based, he met with me for a meal, we were going kayaking but my flight was canceled for 24 hours.

Weather is great right now. Highs in the 70's lows in the 50's occasionally 40's. Tampa, Ocala, Daytona, cape canaveral, etc are all within an hour. There is plenty to do

I was just thinking Florida shouldn't be bad right now. I went to the parks in the summer once and it was possibly the most intense heat I've ever experienced.

Canoeing at Wekiva Springs is another great way to see Florida's natural beauty. Also Rock Springs just down the road from Wekiva is another great place for the kids to enjoy. Water is always 72 degrees too.

The Central Florida Zoo is meh in my opinion. KSC is awesome. Blue Springs is also another place to go kayaking, snorkeling, see manatees - plus they have an awesome breakfast, brunch mill there.

We are going in early March with a 3 and 7 year old. That Fantasy of Flight looks cool. I am trying to plan ideas in case there are rain days. Any other indoor places to go?

Nice! We would be canoeing to 3 sisters, anything we should know? We might be renting another canoe but otherwise making the trip with my canoe on the roof racks.
