Ha! I noticed a couple car purchases ago that there is basically no useful information in a dealership ad.

I've seen many sticks listed as autos and vice versa.

That's because most car salespeople are complete morons when it comes to product line...and they stick the biggest loser in internet sales due to their shear offensiveness.

And/or, cr@p like that gets people on the phone asking questions. Nobody wants a stick (except car people) so they list it as an auto to get bites or walk ins. I quit talking to car dealers, I pick out what I want and let my wife negotiate...she loves to argue. I think they cut her a deal just to get rid of her

this one cracks me up:

dealer i traded my blazer in to said: DESCRIPTION 4WD and WHOLESALE TO THE PUBLIC!!!. Green Machine! Lots of room! This durable 1996 Chevrolet Blazer is the tough SUV you have been looking to get your hands on. This stout Blazer can handle whatever obstacle is in your way, and do it with comfort and safety to spare.

i know for a fact the truck is a turd. it does not have lots of room, that's why i traded it in on a suburban. it's not tough, i tried to pull a car in the yard with it and then the front end started making funny noises. if the obstacle in your way is anything requiring a smooth running engine, you're boned. plus the driver's seat looks like the owner before me weighed 500# so it most certainly isn't comfortable. i'll overlook the safe comment.

fact: dealers will say anything to get you in the door. they'll lie to you on the phone, lie via email, lie to your momma, then lie after the sale to cover up their previous BS.

Wow. I was just in the pick-n'-pull, and half the cars in there had nicer paint than that Montero.

Maybe they're in one of those areas populated by VeeDubbers who rust their hoods on purpose? Some paint has to look like "new" paint compared to that idiocy...

For me, a huge tip-off is the lack of any mention of the mileage. If they think the paint on this vehicle looks great, I have to imagine the odometer has flipped a few times (perhaps with some help).

Dealer says in their description " we search the entire Gulf Coast for the very best used cars for the price..." I would hate to see the cars they don't think are the very best.

BTW, I've never seen wiper arms that look that rusty on a vehicle that wasn't sitting in a junkyard.

That's not a reflection of a cloud in the hood?

Combine with drive train from 'Runs great, needs head gasket and transmission' and you have a practically new car!

He didn't say ALL the paint looks new! There has GOT to be a spot somewhere that looks new. I'm sure he wouldn't lie...

The one that really kills me is "Frame off restoration" on a unibody car.

I saw a Mustang last week on Craigslist. I can't find it now. It was in good condition, "airbags only deployed once."
