I was just wondering if anyone else on this forum painted as a hobby. I had 4 years of art in high school and then picked up the brush again last semester. I am not great but I really enjoy it.

I once had to paint a portrait of my wife in Painting class. The teacher walked by and asked, "Is that Michael Jackson?". Sorry, I had to get that off my chest...

Me too... haven't picked up an actual paint brush (other than the ones in photoshop) in over a decade. Loaded up the back of my hatchback with canvases and paints in the hopes of getting inspired. Keep us posted, would love to see your work!
Not the best photo and I don't have one of it actually finished but this was done for my girlfriend.

Are the ones in photoshop actual paintbrushes?
To answer your question, No, I've never painted thread.
Well... they're on-screen brushes. You can change the size and shape, and whether the line is bold, soft or spattered... but you don't have to clean them.
Rose looks pretty good to me. Is that watercolour or acrylic?
Acrylic. I was pretty happy with that considering it was the first time I had picked up a brush in 3 years. Hopefully I will finish a couple others before break is done.
Mrs. Oldtin is a full-on, formally trained, oil painter. Just photoshop for me - I do scans and prints for her.
