Gave GE (verizon) my phone number years ago so I could carry one phone
Got laid off and want to keep phone number
They agree, and will release to me, but won't give me account number, PIN, etc. Consumer Cellular says that they cannot do the number port without that information. GE says they won't give it to me.
What screws do I turn?
Is it possible to have Consumer Cell talk directly to GE? Maybe they will release the needed info to them.

This^ I have done this a few times over the years. Go to said phone store - start process and have them call your company cell service person.
I'd suggest a die grinder and a carbide burr.
I guess I got lucky when I got laid off. They gave me the phone, let me have the number and paid the termination fee.

Last time I had this problem, I made cellular b call cellular a directly and sort it out.
It is amazing how tied we become to a phone number.
Call in M-F and when you do call ask for a Business Account Customer Service Rep. General Electric is not just a Joe Smoe customer. There will be escalated customer care dedicated to them.
Specifically ask to be directed to the General Electric Account Lead. Yes, someone, will be assigned to this account...I assure you.
I had 14 years in the cell phone business (ending 6 years ago.) Your main challenge is going to be finding someone who will agree that you have the authority to make this change on GE's behalf. The account lead should know who to speak to.
EDIT: some more thoughts...
You may need to approach this is steps. I think step one would be to get that VZ line of service moved over to your personal liability. You will then be the sole owner of that single line of business over at VZ. Once you are the sole and single owner then feel free to move that line of service off to whatever service provider you choose.
It must happen every day that there is an employee separation turning that line of service from Company pay to Private pay. Ask VZ what you need to do to make that happen.

Thanks!
V put the number into "autoport" and once I explained that to CC, they were able to take it.
Now for the next problem. I want to grab all of my contacts. Using some app and using icloud misses all of the GE contacts. There are separate groups in the contacts list on the phone, and one is called "GE mail" which I suspect is holding onto the GE phone numbers.
How be to get?

Those contacts are in your exchange, and likely also in your GE Outlook Contacts.
