I am totally out of the loop with posting pics, that being said is there an APP ( Galaxy S9+(Andriod)) that I can save pictures from my camera roll to, and then access them from a PC and get a link to post them forum-style?

Dropbox? Not an Android user myself, but the app should be pretty agnostic.

I also wrote my own software for this, but you need your own server to make it work.

Google Photos - Free Hosting with a Gmail.  Seems to work well for sharing online. Has an App.

Amazon Photos - Free hosting with a Prime Account. Haven't tried sharing online. Has an App.

Generic to Android:

Settings > Google > Backup > Photos & Videos > Enable "Back up & sync" (be sure that Cellular Data & Roaming backup is turned off).

Since you're using Android, you have a built-in backup choice from the big G, unlimited storage at a reduced size or 10Gb @ full size.

You can access these pictures & videos from https://photos.google.com/

Edit:  In reference to posting them here, I'd recommend downloading them from https://photos.google.com/ then just uploading them on here when you're writing a post (the photo icon above the editor, third tab called "upload").  Then you don't have to worry about linking it anywhere.

Another option is to create the post on your phone, upload the pic to the thread, and then on your computer hit "edit" and type in the text.

You can also post pics directly to this forum from your phone or PC, avoids the hotlinking issues that come from using Google Photos (there is a trick to using Google Photo links, basically you add "-tmp.jpg" to the end of the picture URL).

That said, Google Photos is surprising easy to use otherwise, easy backup, easy to sort into folders, easy to share, etc.

I use Smugmug and Photobucket.

Photobucket screw a lot of people over a year or so back so I'd probably pass on them. The only reason I still have an account is the 1000s of photos I have on there and the multiple build threads across multiple forums I don't want to rework.

Edit to add: Photobucket cost is $30 a year. I am not adding any additional images to that site. Only maintaining it for previously hosted pictures.

Smugmug works very well. Their app is simple as is their website, it all just works and give me access to all my images from any internet device. It is a paid hosting service though. It costs me about $50 a year.

I use imgur.  No cost and posts pics to forums easily.

No cost always has a cost eventually. Ask the Photobucket users. I've hosted my own pics (and everything else) for a couple of decades now and have my own domains. I can switch hosting companies all I want. With a bit of setup, it can be just as functional as a dedicated image host but without the risk of them changing TOS, going out of business, selling your images to stock photo companies, datamining them for dating sites, whatever. Bluehost will do the first year's hosting - including a domain - for under $50.

You'll need to log in to post.
