Photobucket in all of it's glory has decided not to host pictures anymore. Any suggestions for other non-pay sites?

I am moving my stuff over to Flickr. It works fine, but takes a bit of getting used to. Links work fine here (you need to use the Embed option), but as noted by someone else, it does not have the embed option in the mobile app for some reason.

Not a guarantee of course. They could go stupid like Photobucket, but I don't have too much up there anyway. Photoberkit is probably the best option if you are doing car build threads etc., if nothing else, to assure they will be around at least as long as GRM.

BTW - In trying to move stuff out of Photobucket and trying to get the folder copy to work (which still hasn't, but I have all the photos elsewhere), I turned off my script / add blocker... HOLY CRAP! What a S show with the adds!! Wildly intrusive. No wonder the site is so slow!!!

Host your own. Any time someone else has control over your content, they can hose it.

Wish there was a way of easily downloading all pictures in one fell swoop from photobucket.

Big problem with Imgur is that they do not allow you to hot link if the site you are posting on is determined, by them, to have a commercial use. For Example, Garage Journal is blocked by Imgur for hot linking images. There was a discussion over there about why, all of the sudden, links stopped working. Imgur blocked them because they have a "For Sale" board for members to sell/buy items.

There is a rumor that GRM has a solution in the works as well, so I am hoping we will hear more on that soon.

i have a question about the whole photobucket-acalypse. why is it that I am still able to upload new pictures and use them without the problem it seems everyone else is having? Nothing has changed for me when using photobucket

Doesn't that open the possibility of $$$$ for traffic? (I have a website myself, but it's been long enough that I can't remember if I have a cap.)

Because you had a paid account. My photobucket is also working just fine. Even better than ever. However, there are rumors that after a year, those accounts will also be charged the higher amount.

Are you sure that's still the case. I'm getting confused I thought it was working....

Or is that image cached on my phone or something? I see it at least.

In reply to Jere: I use it to sell parts, so I had my seat and everything looked fine, 2 hours later. It has the Photobucket picture. Not sure how it is being figured out.

Depends on your contract with the ISP. Most of the limits are pretty darn high, so as long as you're not hosting porn videos you shouldn't have a problem.

I just checked - Bluehost's cheapest plan is $2.95 month. It includes 50 GB of storage, no limit on bandwidth and a free domain. At $4.95, you get unlimited storage.

And even then, if you're not happy with your ISP, you just move to another one. You're hosting under your own domain, so it's just a matter of uploading the files to the new server and changing the DNS. Nobody on the outside would ever know the difference. If you want to download your files, it's a quick and simple FTP connection instead of having to go through an ad-infested web front end.

I dont pay a penny for my account, just checked and my Account Type is 'free' and i'm still able to share current pictures and all of my old pictures in older threads still show up.

just to test that it's working:

Then you are lucky. I'd start planning for the worst. I'm transitioning over to Smugmug now. Having my pictures still work means I'll be able to take my time.

You'll need to log in to post.
