Sitting on my couch enjoying watching the race this year. There is serious conversation about attending next year's 100 anniversary. This isn't like running over to Atlanta for Petit, this is a trip that needs good planning.
It'll be a trip that I would take the family, which means a 6 and a 12 year old and a wife that doesn't care to be there the whole time.
Obviously lots of questions that I can think of, and probably a lot more that I can't...
- Hotel / accomodations reasonably close to the track?
- Transportation to / from the hotel to the track? Is it available all hours?
- Best viewing spots?
- What's it like moving between locations?
- Camping / glamping?
- Food / drinks / restroom availability at the various fan areas?
Anyone just have experience to share?
Probably about 25 years since I went, but drinking Kronenburg 1664 outside a beer tent on the Mulsanne straight while the Panozs thundered by is an experience that sticks in the mind. We camped - it was pretty basic so maybe not what you want for a family trip. There were shuttle buses to get between locations, don't remember the details though. Definitely worth a trip.
One of my dream vacations.
