Since you guys know everything, maybe you can help me with a small dilema. I bought a new faucet from Amazon. It uses these weird hoses with a 10mm fitting on one end and the standard 3/8" compression fitting on the other. The hoses that came with it were about 10" long. The water supply valves are on the bottom of the kitchen cabinet. I had to order the longest hoses I could find (27"). Well, since I eyeballed it, the cold water side is about 2" too short. The hot side will reach since it looks like a T was added for the dishwasher supply. I cannot find longer hoses anywhere that have the goofy 10mm fitting on one end. So, with that in mind, I need to find a short hose with a 3/8" female fitting on one end and a 3/8" male fitting on the other. Or something. Sourcing something local is pretty unlikely but I'll hit up the only hardware store in town tomorrow. Any suggestions?

They make hoses just for what you need. It will have 3/8 female on one end just like every other supply hose and on the other side there will be a 3/8 male end with the compression ferrel and nut. They were originally used for compression around faucets that had 3/8 copper tubing sticking out the bottom. That trend didn't last long, but now the same hoses are used as extensions to reach the braided hoses that come on the faucets. Just toss the ferrel and nut and screw the hoses together. The big box stores will have them.

It's a bit of a kludge, but one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-3-8-in-x-3-8-in-x-3-8-in-Compression-x-Compression-T-fitting-CT2-666X-P/202495893?N=5yc1vZbutv and one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Watts-3-8-in-Lead-Free-Brass-Compression-Cap-LF-A105/202267217?N=5yc1vZbutv ought to solve your problem.

I think this is the one TR8 todd is referring to:

Yep. I probably go thru a dozen sets a year of that type. Always keep a few in the truck. Flexi hoses make everything so much easier. Today I tried to order some chrome risers for 2 toilets and two wall mounted sinks. The kid behind the counter was fairly new and had no idea what I was talking about.

That is a really weird spot to have an outlet. What is that, 6 inches from a water line?

It's not that weird, they put it there for the disposal.. We have one under our sink..

In reply to EastCoastMojo:

Yep, the grey one is for the disposal and the black one is for the dishwasher. There are 5 outlets linked to the single GFCI outlet. I was very conscious of where the water was going when I was unhooking the old faucet haha

I have never dealt with hoses like this before:

My initial thought was to connect about 5 of these together:
