Danica won the pole position for todays Nationwide race. I'm sure everyone will want to watch.
I'm not totally following things, but I watched the 125s on Thursday and she smacked a wall at full speed. How does one pole after dnf'ing the qualifying race?

different series... very similar cars in the Nationwide series, but with less power and carburetors. she's actually a full time Nationwide racer this year and is doing 10 Sprint Cup races for Tony Stewart racing.
Watch this clip and it's obvious she was a victim of circumstance. She did nothing wrong:

Looked like she may have been heading for a top 10-15 finish; not too bad for a Sprint Cup rookie.
Scott showed me a video of her crash, and watch her hands--even when sliding toward a giant wall at 100-mph, she got her hands well clear of the wheel to prevent a broken wrist.
damn.. I never saw the clip before this.. that was a nasty crash where there was nothing she could do was hold on and wait for the inevitable
And here I thought this was about the game.
Although her stats may not be that incredible, she's still a good driver, shown there to have the presence of mind to remove her hands from the wheel.
Didn't get to watch the race, except for the last 3 laps. Heard Danica got wrecked by her team mate.
Now it seems NASCAR is getting worried about all of the crashes.
yeah, one of the perils of bump drafting... she was tapped as they were entering T 1 ... at the speeds they travel and with the grip ( lack of ) they have all it takes is a tap to turn a car sideways ...
I've heard it said that if you could reach out with your hand and push on the rear quarter of one of those cars at the speed they're going, you could send one sliding .... since they're skating right on the limits
I personally find it neat to see all the anti-aero flaps open to keep the car from flipping. I didn't realize they had them at the base of the windsheild too

Top Gear UK had a segment in series 18 episode 2 (the current series) that was filmed at Texas motor speedway, interesting to hear the comments.
and I will just put this here

Man, I was right in the prime video game age when that game came out. I was somewhere around 12 years old (I forget what year that game came out). I used to ask my parents for quarters for my b-day so I could go to the arcade...remember those?...and spend hours playing.
I saw an interview where the redneck nascar journalist asked why she covered her eyes with her hands before she hit the wall.
When I saw the clip (which I am one of those people that doesn't think she makes good on track decisions) I thought immediately that she did the right thing.
She is the first roundy round driver that I saw take their hands off the wheel in an inevitable wreck.
Hopefully, somebody will learn from her actions.
if you watched the other wreck at Daytona, the one that took Danica out on the second lap, the guy who got slammed into the wall took his hands off of the wheel and crossed them over his chest.. so they are learning

How do you figure?
She's not the first woman to run, she's just the first moderately attractive one to be popular in another form of motorsports and switch over to Nascar.

in other words, she's the one that brought the most funding with her, which gives her the ability to get in the best equipment with the best teams, which gives her the best shot at actually winning.

She had the best equipment with the best team for a few years in IndyCar and couldn't make anything happen of it. She is the female version of Dale Jr., only less successful.

Best equipment behind Penske and Ganassi, though she should have been able to do more than she did. My opinion is that she has always raced to bring the car home in one piece, I think she has more talent than her results show, but not the kind of killer instinct that will help her win against drivers like Stewart and Bush.
