Here in VA...we had quite a few shenanigan's pulled on election day.

GMU's provost's email was hacked. An email was sent to all college students telling them that the election was being moved to the 5th.

Flyers were distributed stating that if anyone had a outstanding parking ticket or warrants they would be arrested if they attempted to vote.

Also, fliers with an authentic-looking commonwealth seal said fears of high voter turnout had prompted election officials to hold two elections — one on Tuesday for Republicans and another on Wednesday for Democrats.

My question is...why do the R's insist on pulling underhanded stunts like this? The reason I say R's is because it's obviously minorities, younger voters, and other strongly democratic portions of the population that are targeted.

What gives? Like the Really Rottens on Laff-O-Lympics you still lose even if you cheat.

I figure cheating has always been a part of politics, just like in racing. True, if you win by cheating, you really lose, but cheaters don't seem to understand that.

I wouldn't paint it as a dem/rep thing. I think it's just that for some people, winning by any means necessary is more important than doing what's right. They are, of course, the people you'd least want running things.

In this particular case, the republicans were desperate to hold onto power, and willing to do anything to do so. But the shoe could easily have been on the other foot, and almost certainly will be sooner or later.

And as Duke said, anyone stupid enough to fall for it probably shouldn't be voting anyway.

Read a book. Buy some land. Google "ACORN."

On a related note, one of our friends did actually believe me when I said "Hey, you know that registered Democrats can't vote until Thursday, right?" I was laughing when I said it. She sounded really proud of herself when she left a voicemail on our answering machine yesterday saying "I just called to correct you. EVERYONE is supposed to vote TODAY." Thank goodness she was too berkeleying lazy to vote anyway.

Good ACORN stuff:

While the crap you talked about in the original post may well be from R, don't think they have a lock on cheating. Research election fraud in Chicago and learn from the pros (Where big O learned the trade). I thought that Richard Dailey Jr screaming foul in 2000 in Fl was precious.

In FL I went to go vote yesterday and according to the computer I had "cancelled my right to vote". That's right, according to the computer, some time between primaries and now, I went in and told the election office, or somebody, that I wanted to cancel my right to vote. Just not voting wasn't good enough... I wanted to cancel my right so that even if I changed my mind and tried to vote, I couldn't.

Oh, sure, the people at the office were 'sorry' but there was 'nothing they could do'. So I filed a report or whatever..

You probably shouldn't, though. There are misguided people on both sides of the aisle that do dumb E36 M3. You probably shouldn't characterize an entire political movement by a few nutballs.

I'm thinking you are probably more in tune with problems on a college campus (and therefore targeted by Repubs), because you are connected with that particular community.

I live in an area the Dems targeted, and saw plenty of junk from them as well.

I forwarded this to McCain's campaign along with some links to Al Gore's shenanigans in the 2000 election. The fecal matter should strike the air moving device momentarily.

commonly known as Che Guevara, El Che, or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, politician, author, physician, military theorist, and guerrilla leader. After his death, his stylized image became a ubiquitous countercultural symbol worldwide.

Duke wrote: While I do NOT approve of the tactics, you could say it's weeding out anybody stupid enough to fall for it...

While there are many times this would be nice let's think about this for a second. I don't pretend to be knowledgeable on this subject but this is the way I undestand things work. Back in the 1700's when this country was formed there was no internet, TV, radio or any other form of mass communication other than newspapers. The population was largely uneducated and couldn't read the papers if they wanted to. So the government created the Electoral Collage to actually elect the President and Vice President so that a more informed group than the general public could make the decision. This still holds true today. The general public does not elect the President. Our vote is only a suggestion to a commitee of people telling them who we want to lead us. They may or may not vote the way we wish and we're stuck with it. This has happened a few time in history where the guy with the most popular votes lost the election.

In my opinion this is an outdated system and should be changed.

Please tell me you're berkeleying joking.

and anti Semitic

I'm very much pro-Isreal, and Grandpa fought in WWII. Obama & his legless drunk drivin' Muslim daddy, maybe not so much.

PS: The (jewish,) Pro-Obama judges at LeMons south thought it was berkeleying hilarious.

PPS: We initially discussed using Guevara, Stalin, and Marx bodies, but figured 90% of the population are to berkeleying ignorant and uneducated to get it. Plus, I literally CUT (with a pair of scissors) and PASTED (with the sticky stuff on the back) the head on the body. The proportions were perfect to make it look all South Park-y.

The Nazis were racist, there is no two ways about that, so by putting Obamas head on Hitlers body it is being implied that Obama had it in for us white folks. If the intent was comminisum then Stalin or Mao would have been a "better" choice.

I hope that this election will be the end of the massive polizaration that has taken over the counrty over the last 8 years. I voted for Obama because I think he is the direction we need to go in but I have never called into question anyone who voted for Mcain. America is built on freedom of choice, I have spent over 12 years of my life in the service of our country and spent time in the desert so that we all have that freedom. No matter how we voted we are all just as "American" as the next person and the sooner we can come to grips with that the better off we will all be.
