Telemundo. And I don't speak spanish.
C'mon Flight Service. Don't you know the rules here?
Only anti-Obama and anti-liberal threads can be started in this forum. Then when a non-conservative posts they can be accused of floundering and then told they should be banned.
I have NPR (interwebs streaming) all day at work in the background because I don't like to be yelled at constantly and told what I need to be really upset about. It's just news. Weird, I know.
On my commute to and from work I listen to local and L.A. AM radio. I have a lot of "conservative" beliefs, so it's good to hear what that side of the story is. Of course it's still pretty mellow, some would call it liberal when compared to spokes-holes from the extreme right (Limbaugh, OReilly, Hannity, and other tool bags).
Then of course there is the Daily Show. It's funny and reminds me of why I hate Faux "news" and all the mouth breathers that are on it (and watch it).
Cone_Junky (In my best Mr. Chow voice) "It's funny because it's true"
All politics aside I have noticed how all the majors sell fear and sensationalism and not news. I listen to NPR for the same reasons. I don't like being yelled at and told what to be scared of, although All Things Considered could use a little more lively broadcasters.
I get my noise errrrrrr "news" from whatever threads on this forum i'm unlucky enough to get sucked in to.
I never heard her show until I started streaming through NPR instead of listening to my local broadcast, but the Diane Rehm Show is great. She sounds like she his 100+ years old, but she is so good at getting both sides together to DEBATE a topic.
Then of course there is the queen of interviewers, Terry Gross.

Born September 21, 1936, so she is knocking on it.

Cite examples, please, or it's revisionist history.
And if IIRC, the only poster getting the ban hammer in the last year, or so, was someone repeatedly warned by Margie(?) to tone it down and he refused to do so.

Nice broad-brush stroke.
By applying that level of logic, it's fair to label Daily Show viewers as condescending, shiny happy people?

Yea, I admit to cross-thread trolling on a thread you started - after you went hyperbolic on the first and then trolled your own thread here.

Did someone post something really offensive and delete it? If so, I totally missed that and the opportunity to trash them for it. I'm curious as to who the guilty parties are.

That's where I get my weather. It's going to be wrong anyway it might as well look nice.

I agree... with things like "this american life" or the other human interest stuff, its BS filler that makes you feel fuzzy. But the actual news shows are very unbiased.
As a student of psychology, I learned long ago that a case study (like when they chronicle the life of one Somali student with no legs and no ears getting a scholarship to Harvard or something) is a remarkably persuasive (and untrustworthy) piece of information. That is why talk shows like Oprah don't do a story about the "millions of women with breast cancer," they do a story about "one woman's struggle with breast cancer." Case studies are great pieces of research for the researcher and they can suggest a broader implication, but when used on the general population they are often a means of persuasion.
NPR's human interest stuff = BS filler
NPR's actual news = good facts.
But I do want to beat Kai Ryssdal to a pulp for using that patronizing patter voice when he hosts Marketplace. What kind of old hipster name is Kai, anyway?

Definitely a ton of right wing craziness over tones on the board. Not the management but it's pretty easy to be run off by the members if you don't agree with their views.
And that's all I got.

Hmm, I've always thought it the opposite way. Lock it.
