I realize it's rally, but it's TARMAC rally...why don't they drive for grip like they would on a circuit? You don't see Porsche drivers drifting the hairpin at Long Beach GP...

I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but it looks like kicking the tail out might be the quickest way around some of those "U" bends.
tarmac mostly.. but I saw some gravel shots too.. so more than likely, those cars were not set up for grip

In that video, absolutely. When I wen to an ALMS race back when they still had them at Sear's Point, the Porsches sounded like complete and utter garbage.

Ther is not a bad sounding machine in ALMS but the Jag XK RSR makes my knees weak.
