I have a Jam Classic. Love it. But the recharging port is not tolerant of abuse or neglect.
I bought a Creative unit for about $30. Sounds great when plugged into a source, but has an awful 60-cycle hum over Bluetooth. I've tried several sources. Would not recommend.
Edit: I just looked it up. I have a Creative D80.
I picked up one of these when I told the new SWMBO that I wanted something simple for the garage with my iPod, after ex-swmbo took her old crappy stereo with her out of spite.
Her daughter had one & I got to hear it, not bad for $30.

The JAM Classic in black was only $23 at Best Buy.
not in the price range mentioned, but the Klipsch KMC 3 is pretty sweet. Bonus points for getting 8 rechargeable lithium ion D cells and using it as a modern ghetto blaster. I haven't gotten the chance to listen to the Klipsch Gig yet, but have heard decent reviews, if you like bass, it apparently isn't as crisp or sharp as the KMC3 regarding highs are mids though.

I've had this one since last June (Father's Day gift from my son) and like it a lot. I'm listening to it right now in fact. I'd recommend it.
Playing around with some display units was fun today. I did not care for the sound of the Jam+. For a budget option I really like this little Philips speaker. $40 and the best sound I have heard under $50. I'm hesitant of the iHome mentioned earlier, as my wife has a similar wired unit and I didn't care for it, I wanted something with more presence.
I plan to swing by worst buy after work tomorrow as they should have the rewind in stock and $10 less than anywhere else. If not I plan to get that Philips.
