I am in the market for one. Having removed every bit of cabin sealing on my boat, I realize that I need to keep the rain out while I finish up the sanding and paint.

Anybody have an experience with one that was reasonably priced and still decent to use?. the $5000 dollar ones could have me building a half-way decent shed

I've used the Shelter Logic types for a long time now. I get several years at least from the ~$500 ones.

Biggest key as it were is to keep it tight so it doesn't flex and wiggle. If it moves, the fabric will rip, then it all comes apart in the wind.

I'm happy with the Harbor Freight shelter so far, but it has only seen three months of use. It is standing up to some pretty stout rain and wind so far, but I also have it tucked behind my garage so it is somewhat sheltered. I paid $160 for it one sale with a coupon.

Bumping this thread - it looks like I'll be losing my overflow car storage[1] soon and I'd need something to protect at least the MR2 a bit better than parking it outside in the weather.

I was looking at something like this. One of the problems we have is the high winds we get in the area. We regularly need to get parts of the fence replaced because of the high winds.

Longer term plan would be to build a nice 2 1/2 car shop out the back, but there's still low tide in the wallet atm for that sort of project.

[1] I rent part of an aircraft hangar, but when we rocked up there this morning there's a big for sale sign on it. Looks like the landlord/owner might have forgotten to tell us about that. Oddly enough, his plane is also still in there.

I bought this one too but paid $180. I've been very satisfied with it. It's done what I needed it to do. I tied it down very well. It's a good thing too because we had some severe winds through this part of the country this winter. During the winter I even strapped it to my lawn mower from all four corner.

What is "severe winds" in your area? Just so I have some comparison to what we see here.

In reply to BoxheadTim:

How much are they asking for the airplane hangar?

1/4 million. There's a reason I'm not talking to the realtor right now as the hangar is five minutes from our house.

I bought a King Canopy 10x20' from Sam's Club many years ago for $240. It held up pretty well over five years, with plenty of sun and snow. Eventually, the UV finally made the cover brittle, and new covers were almost as much as a new kit. The frame was fine, and we finally took it down because we were selling our house.

Anchoring is very important, I built a platform out of pressure-treated wood and anchored my cover to that.

Overall, I got much more than my money's worth out of that one!
