My kids dont trick or treat anymore, but my wife had an offer that was always on the table the day before. The kids could always eat all the candy they wanted haloween night, but if they turned the rest in the next morning she would pay them. It was a sliding pay scale for three days after which there was usually no candy left anyway. They would often OD on haloween night and get a payout the next morning. The purchased candy went into cookies and other baking over the next few months so they kind of got to eat it anyway. It was a win win for everyone.
