The misses and I had planned for 2020 to be a year full of travel and fun for the family. We had bought season passes for all six of us at a local amusement park, we're planning a family trip to St. Louis at the end of May, and a cruise for just the two of that's already paid for at the beginning of November.
Then Covid19 happened.
From today, our first trip is scheduled to begin 66 days from now. Our Airbnb can be refunded 100% up to 24 hours before check in.
Question is, how long do I wait before we call it off?
I'm still working but my wife isn't. It's looking like the kids aren't going back to school at all. I'm debating cancelling everything until things calm down, virus or not.
I was supposed to just fly to KY last week to pick up my new toy. I was supposed to fly out Wednesday..........I even checked-in online, then canceled later in the day. Just not worth the risk to be on 2 planes and 3 different airports at the moment. And the numbers are still growing.
I would probably go ahead and cancel the St. Louis trip just to remove the mental energy of thinking should/shouldn't we go.

I already cancelled my trip to Arizona in April. Hotel refunded, the airline is being an shiny happy person.
Get money back while you can. There's no guarantee those places or transportation companies are going to be in business in a few months.
We went to Austin in first week of March, to see some family.
Mid March had Egypt booked for family spring break. Cancelled 4 hours before going, due to travel ban etc, and LH groundign their A380. Haven't gotten my $6500 back yet. We instead did a roadtrip to National parks in the west coast.
We have 1 week off in June, 2 weeks in July. Usually we got our NC Outer Banks house. We are making no flying plans for rest of 2020. After home remodel, won't have any more money anyways, and govt doesn't want to give me the $2400 checks that I know so many people are getting. Oh well.

I recommend to get out of what you can as quickly as you can. I don't want to be an alarmist but I think we have only seen the tip of the new inconveniences to affect our daily lives.
We too bought season passes again to the local, seasonal, amusement park. Delayed opening announced but less than clear of when opening will be. We have canceled our plans for Easter break travel via car to see family in GA. FL. AL. I had hope for a large northern summer trip via car but that seems unlikely too.
In reply to Javelin :
With airlines you pretty much have to wait until they cancel the flight, otherwise all need to do is keep your money and give you a credit.
Although apparently some airlines insist that even if they cancel they won't give you a refund even though it's required by regulations.
Edit: Better explaination here: https://thepointsguy.com/guide/refund-or-change-flight/
I am booking a trip in January, hoping this will be over by then.
IMO it depends. I had paid for flights on Silver Airways for the very beginning of April a while ago. They were super cheap and non-refundable/ non-switchable but since this whole thing happened they made a policy change and I was able to get my money back but only cause I waited.

I would certainly hope so.
We're supposed to meet up with friends in Spain in August and right now we're not super keen on booking a flight.
I need some continuing education hours for my veterinary license renewal at the first of June. I was planning to attend a meeting the weekend of April 25-26. The hotel is next door to SeaWorld Orlando.
I'm canceling the hotel reservations, and even if the meeting occurs, I won't be going. I'm registering for some on-line classes instead.
We're canceling our travel plans for the summer, too. We have a standing invitation to visit a friend in rural Ohio, but that's out. Even though I won't expect to travel this year, I also probably won't have any PTO left since I'm not working now, and don't know when I'll be back to work.

Not sure... Carlisle Events sent out an email stating they are still planning to hold the Import & Exotic Show in mid-May. Right now, I don't have a lot of confidence that will happen. My friends and I will probably wait until late April to decide, if they don't cancel it before then.
