I enjoyed the World Series. Most of it was really well played baseball, and I appreciate well played "small ball". One home run in the last 5 games, and some magical defense. Great young players, doing their best. Fun to watch.
Didn't really have a favorite, although I kinda ended up cheering for KC. I'd bet we will see at least a thousand articles on the glory that is Bumgarner, and its probably deserved. I bet his arm hurts this morning.
I've never figured out how the managers in game seven situations don't just stand there puking all the time from the tension...

I'm disappointed that the Giants won … not that I'm a Royals fan … just having been a Dodger fan for as long as I can remember … I never pull for the Giants … well maybe if they were playing the Yankees…. LOL
Not a big b'ball fan but really wanted to watch the last two games but had to work, dammit.
I really wanted to see KC pull that one out at the end. Would have been epic to win in the 9th after that goofy error in the Giants outfield.
Kind of depressing to see a team win the WS in the apposing stadium.
(I used to live in SF and I did not want them to win)
I think KC got a raw deal on that overturned call. In the slow motion replay that was shown on TV, you could plainly see the runner touch the base before the ball impacted the glove. They said it was the first overturned call on appeal in world series history!

Well, it is the first year in World Series history they've allowed appeals. The whole replay review thing infuriates me. The game is supposed to be about entertainment, and sitting around watching umps on headphones while Joe Buck n pals deliberate on the subtle points of ball control ain't entertaining.
Anyways, it was a great series, and great baseball. I would've loved to see KC win, but Bumgarner was just unbelievable.

I consider myself more or less a baseball purist, and I have to disagree a bit. I was sure replay would suck the soul out of baseball, but I think it's been good for the game. Remember the blown call that cost Galarraga his perfect game a few years back? I think that, and all the other blown calls, cost baseball a lot more than a couple minutes of replay per game ever will.
The problem you're pointing out isn't replay--the problem is Joe Buck.
I'm just amazed Bumgartner could throw so well with three announcers hanging from his jock.

Haha. I kind of agree, but after watching his performance. I'd guess his jock is quite large enough to house the three of them.
I wish the KC 3rd base coach would have sent the runner home on that wild play in the 9th. What could be better than a play at the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in game 7 of the World Series? It's a scenario that every little kid plays out on the sandlot. He may have been out--- but what were the chances of getting another hit off that beast? I swear Bumgartner's arms must be 10 feet long!

They were evenly matched teams, but KC came out of no-where, as opposed to the Giant which has been dominant the last couple of years. One could also say that the Giants rely very heavily on Bumgartner as the Phillies did Clif Lee. Without him they wouldn't have stood a chance.
I'm worried that KC will be back off the radar next year, and many fans will be disappointed.

It was a fantastic series, perhaps one of the better ones of the last few years. As they rioted in SF after the win, it makes me wish they had lost so that another purging fire would consume SF.

not what I saw … to my eyes his hand was still a couple of inches away when the ball first touched the glove …
course if the runner had stayed on his feet and run through the bag, he'd probably been safe … full speed running is always faster than sliding

at least they did in the post season (though he did lose one game) in the regular season he was 18 and 10 with a 2.99 ERA… so he was good/very good … but nothing like he was in the world series 2 and 0 ( you could almost say he won the last game, making him 3 and 0) with a 0.43 ERA
I say you could almost credit him with the last game win, since I don't think the rest of the SF relievers could have shut out the Royals

I thought the same thing during the live shot, but during the replay it looked as if the love child of Sid Bream and fat Tony Gwynn was running the bases. Even a halfway decent throw would have had him out by a mile.
Now if he tried it anyway and the catcher didn't give him a lane, or if he ran into the catcher, and the World Series had ended on a disputed call at home, people would have lost their minds. Commentators have been what if-ing that scenario all year.

it's the first yr with this level of replay … period
wasn't last yr (or was it the yr before) that they started using replays for outfield … fair or foul … was any thing else included in the replay for the last couple of yrs
I still say replay review is awful. It's a way for rules weenies to say "the right call was made." Though it's obvious by the amount of disagreement on the calls after review that there's still lots of room for interpretation on close plays.
As to your example, Galarraga was denied a perfect game, and struck out the next batter. He was a model of grace and humility after the game. To me, that was a better story than the perfect game would have been.
What replay does is slow down and disrupt the game, right at the moments it's at its emotional peak.
Get off my lawn.

I agree replay isn't perfect, but how am I a weenie for not wanting to berkeley a guy/team over? I fail to see how taking 2 minutes to correct any of these calls is a bad thing. I mean, Knobby's tag? Pierzynski's total BS dropped third strike call? Really?
I guess I see it more as entertainment and less as a contest of who is best, and so getting things right 99.5% of the time is good enough for me, especially when the trade off is a stop in the action. The umps are dang good at their jobs, and disagreement with calls is a fun part of the game.
I know I'm in the minority on this, and besides, the cats out of the bag now, so I will quit whining.
I guess I'm the only Giants fan here... great series. MadBum is ridiculous. There was s much good baseball played- if he hadn't played the last game, I'm not sure who I would have picked as MVP. Man- Panik's toss for the double play was one of the single best plays I've ever seen.

with the millions of $$ involved .. it's DEFINITELY a contest to those involved .. it may be just intertwinement to you … but not to the players, & owners & TV companies
