Five years ago, after 20 years of security systems, my youngest son Tim decided on a career change. He wanted to be a stand up comic. Say what!!?? Well, he got pretty good at it, booked shows all over South Florida, many appearances at Hard Rock, etc. Two years ago, he decided to go to LA, try for the big time. He was just invited to do a try out with NBC-
"I just did an audition for NBC comedy development. I drove to San Diego at 5am this morning. 103 comics went up and 16 got through. They took 2 out of 27 in my group. I made it to the 2nd round. I'll find out tomorrow if I made it to the show case. The Tonight Show booker was a judge and a VP from NBC."
He made the semi's, to be held Monday in San Diego, finals are in LA next month. Winner gets a contract with NBC. Wow, even if he does not get the big one, he has been noticed. Next step, the cover of Rolling Stone! Check him out on Facebook, and YouTube. Tim Hanlon.
even if he does not make the "big time" I am certain I will get to see him roll through the Borgata. We have comedians in our smaller theatre at least 5 days a week (Sometimes more if there are no concerts scheaduled)
Super cool! I'll watch some of this videos later.
Good for him, when you hate to get up in the morning it's a long life.
if he wants to get noticed, he needs to figure out how to get on @Midnight..

He's not "married", but has a very supportive SWMBO of 6 years. I have told her several times that I would like to see her change her last name, but not yet. No kids. But, yes, it took a lot of balls to make the jump, but necessary to go to the next level. Hell, he even taught comedy at the Hard Rock! He definitively has a future doing it, but no idea if he can crack into the Big Time. Time will tell.
Can't wait to see him on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

He did not make the final cut- number three. But a very good experience, got to meet some heavy hitters, no regrets. Like I told him, you can't win if you don't play the game.
