Bold move. I agree with the hive, I think you'll do well.

Good advice here.

Are you taking over someone else's territory?

Congratulations. There is little reason to suffer for a paycheck.

A guy I used to work with quit. I heard from him a while later and I asked why he left. He said he was just tired of it. Then he said he was given the following advice:

"Jump and the net will appear".

I have a strong feeling that you will land in a nice net and become a fantastic salesman Michael. You understand mechanical and electrical things and you are trustworthy.

Wish you the best as you get up to speed in the new career direction.

The guy that had it for a long time retired at the beginning of covid, then the two people since managed to shrink revenue in the territory by 40%. First guy quit, second guy was fired. The owner has been doing what he can to service the area since. Its a father/son run business.

Thanks again everyone, the votes of support are REALLY helping when I'm second guessing myself. Y'all got no idea.....

As for second guessing...

Please add me to your "board of directors" and add a few other GRMers to that board also.  Call directly when you encounter a career or customer challenge.  Sure, speak to your employer too but contact us for situations that might not be easiest taken directly to employer or before taking it to employer.

You're gonna be fine.  Let face it, you're coming from suicide prevention.  I think you're good with a "this really matters" understanding from your previous customer base.

Having been involved in both career types, I'll say that sales is way less stressful.
