Or, the sleeper as we know it in the automotive world. Digital Trends got a good selection in, I think.

They forgot the first generation Mazda Speed 3. Visually hard to differentiate from the normal 3 with similar power to some of the cars they talk about in the article and likely a fair amount lighter.
2012-2013 Chevrolet Impala, any trim level. 3.6L DI V-6, 306 hp, 6 speed automatic, 4-wheel disk brakes in a plain vanilla rental car spec wrapper. A lot of car for 25K, not including rebates on leftover production once the 2014 hits the showroom. (Ducks rotten tomatoes and rocks from GM haters)

The SHO's are a bit more deserving of that title from Ford......

They forgot a lot, but I don't think that it was an all inclusive article. I certainly don't disagree with any of the choices.

The MS6 is more of one than the MS3....for example.
Infinity m45, he'll, just about any of the v8 infinity sedans were sleepers in their day.
Lincoln mark 8
when i think about a car being a q-ship, i think about a car that even car-guys won't recognize.
for example, my '99 Regal GS. i swapped parts out to make it look like a plain white Century. Instead it's been converted to E85 & methanol, among other things...

The dead giveaway on the ms3 is the spoiler. The dead giveaway on the ms6 is the monster truck ride height.
Sleeper? I got your sleeper right here. Yeah, we had our way with it.
The E39 M5 is good example of a sleeper. Fastest sedan in the world when it was introduced, but other than a couple of subtle changes it's a stock E39 body.
Galant VR4 anyone?
At risk of offending anyone saying sleepers must be cars, I would like to toss the Chevy Duramax truck in the ring too. Those things can really scream with a few mods.
I'm scared to death of Dodge Aries as sleepers because of the scaries and other 10 second k-cars at the challenge. One could easily swap a t/c powerplant into one of those things and rape unknowing victims.

I'm with you there. If you can surprise a car guy with it, then it's a sleeper.
